Santander Select

Can anyone tell me if you need to have a 123 Current Account to get Santander Select or has anyone been offered this with just a standard Santander current account? I quite fancy the gold debit card...

You can join Santander Select if you:

have a current account with us, and

meet one of the following criteria:

pay your main income of at least £5,000 per month into a Santander current account (excluding transfers from other Santander accounts), or

maintain £75,000 in any Santander investment(s), savings or current account, or

have a property worth at least £500,000 with a Santander mortgage
I see no mention of 123.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

    Do you make the criteria?
Even if you do they don't seem to dich them out very often.
How do you get an " SantanderSelect elite " card?

I don't think you can apply for Select - they give it to you as and when they feel like it. Going from past threads on here it seems they "upgrade" (if you can call it that?) a batch of people every so often rather than it being an ongoing process.

Having said all that, it's nothing to get excited about!
  • Also I dont think they are 'strict' with their requirements for select...

Although I have 'substantial' money with them its not enough to meet the criteria but I was still offered select and the gold card on both my 123 accounts

Why would you want to put that amount of money in per month and also hold that much in savings, just to be a select customer !

2 accounts with Santy maxed at £20k but both CC,s cancelled last year, after using the 0% promos.
I'm in no rush to be get a select account and probably never will be offered one.

IT depends how you organise your accounts. Instead of the daisy chain method often sited on here.If You use a central hub with payments bouncing back and forth it is easy to make the 5K threshold.

No-one says you have to put that much in and leave it there, or that they do it "just to be a select customer". It only has to go through the account. In my case that happens naturally because its my main account and my work expense claims are paid into it.

In all honesty Santander Select isn't worth the effort of transferring £5k a month for a gold card as you still pay £5 a month for the cashback rewards which NatWest/RBS beat and the rest you can still get as a non-Select customer.

I went over the pros and cons and I'd prefer NatWest Rewards as well as HSBC Advance for savings rates than to go Select with Santander.

As, has bean said there is little to no benefit to the gold card. For me it is purely a result of the way I organise my finances. NatWest and HSBC Advance may suit you but I can't get a return on 60K there.

It's a free service with commission free access to Santander ATMs around the globe and other little extra perks.

    Worth moving for - no
Worth getting if you already have a 123 account - yes
