payday panic

I dont want to go into the full details but I am in a bit of a panic. I had an issue which cost me £100 this month and I am basically skint. I could do with £50 to last me till payday. Since I am in IVA I can't take out any loans etc and there is no family I could borrow off do you think if I talked to my IP (payplan) they could refund £50 of my last payment to them which I will pay back when I get paid or is that like asking the queen to give me a million quid?

Thanks.

Hi - they may have already passed your payment to your creditors - even if not i'm not sure they would be able to return it to you. You're best off speaking with them and explaining the situation

Why do you need the money ?
  • yeah I phoned them and they said there is nothing I can do. I asked my wages dept since I know I am getting loads of overtime but all I got is we are not a bank from them. I only asked them for 50 quid of next weeks wages and since I have put in loads of overtime to cover for people I thought they might be grateful since they would have been in a pickle without me.

    Hi there

I'm not sure what (if anything) can be done on this occasion, but if your budget is so tight that it's liable to be thrown into disarray by something like this, I'd suggest you speak to your IP to review your IVA budget to ensure that it is sustainable. There ought to be an element allowed within your expenditure for emergencies - 5-6 years is a very long time to go without any sort of safety net.

    Thanks Dennis,

My budget has always been this tight on the IVA. I have a £100 per week which includes travelling (petrol) and sort of living costs. I spend £52 a week on petrol and thats only if I am doing my normal shifts. Sometimes like this month I am doing more to cover for either my colleague or my manager as there are only 3 of us in our department.

Originally my IVA was supposed to be £110 a month I now pay £248 a month and my wages have only risen by £120 since I started the IVA in 2012. My last payment is March and I can't wait.

I see so many people in IVAs saying it allows them to save money but mine cuts me to the bone every month so if I get something bad happens like a while ago I had two punctures I had to take a payment break in order for me to get new tires. If I can't drive I can't get to work as I live in a very rural location where there is no transport.

I manage to just budget but never get any money to do anything or buy anything. The last time I bought any clothes was before I started the IVA, the last time I did anything sociable was before the IVA started.

Originally I was in a payment plan with payplan but due to creditors still adding intrest and IVA was advised.

Is that not the point of an IVA though ?
You are basically being let off a large amount of money owed towards your creditors/debts so with this in mind not being able to go out and or buy clothes should be standard, Not wanting this to sound to harsh but when debts are being written off for you then money by rights in your pocket should be living expenses only.

I understand that, don't get me wrong. But my IVA is really tight it allows for no emergencies or anything like that.

Could you sell a few things on ebay with a 24hr listing or on gumtree, or take your television or something to a pawnbrokers and get it back out when you get paid?
    Make £10 per day-
    June: £100/£300
  • I am contemplating that.
