                    Hi all,
A council tax bill was sent to my address yesterday.
It was addressed to a name I do not know of, for an address that is on the other side of the country which I have no connection to.
After being on hold for 45 minutes I spoke to someone at the council and told them that the person does not live here and never has done, (I have lived here for a year and a half), the previous owner lived here for 15 years when the property was built. I also know nothing of the property the bill is related to.
I was told to send the letter back with "Addressee not at this property".
I wanted to know why the letter was sent here and how this person was connected with this property and was told that it is confidential.
It looks like a new claim from the end of May 2016.
None of my neighbours recognised the name either.
I have made a copy of the letter and the letter I posted back to the council.
The bill was for about £1300 but there was a 100% discount.
But I am concerned that my address is being highjacked and that in the future other bills will be sent to this address.
I assume the police wont be interested.
Is there anyone that I could contact about this if I get anymore bills, letters or debt collectors at my door?

If the bill isn't in your name you have no need to worry, just post it back NKATA and let the council deal with itBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I think you're panicking over nothing! It's probably just a simple mistake by the council! Stop worrying.0

If the name and address are incorrect ,then it is just a sorting error on the part of Royal Mail.0

At this point you should have just put it through the shredder and got on with your life.."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0

If you call the police, they may just deliver it to the right person, thats what happened with my moblile bill that went by mistake to my neighbour when he gave it to the police instead of putting it through my door.
The fact that it was a twenty mile round trip to my office to deliver it, explains why we think the police round here don't have too much to do!!0

So reading this, you opened mail not addressed to you and copied it?
Yet your concern is your address being hijacked, really?0

Only my address was showing through the envelope window.
When I opened it and unfolded the letter I saw the other persons name.
On the other side of the letter was the address the CT was related to.
 Yes I scanned it.
Yes I am concerned about the address being highjacked after reading an article while on hold for 45 minutes.0

I find it hard to believe only address was showing through and not the name. The council most likely show name and address through the envelope window. I may be wrong.0
