When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Hi all!
Thanks for the start Speky & DNMS
I've been a bit quiet lately as sickness has hit our house. we're all back to fitness again now thankfully.
Today I'm wfh so fuel saved
Reconciled YNAB and am on course to complete the month in the black for the second month in a row! hurrahI also figured out that YNAB costs me the same as about one month in my overdraft so it's paid for itself already!
I need to sort out my grocery budget as I'm always going over (but I transfer from other budgets in the YNAB way)... I currently have 66p left in my grocery budget and another 1.5 weeks to go! Surely £250 for a family of 2 adults and 2 young children is enough?New total: £24,006
I will do this.0 -

Much like you, I'm into my 2nd month of YNAB. I usually am struggling to see out the month but right now I have £600 in my account!!! Absolutely amazed. Love it.
Also, similarly, its my grocery shopping that I seem to always overspend it. Just goes to show where you really spend your money.0 -

I think it's loads. (not judging though!) where do you shop and what do you guys eat for meals? I shop at Aldis & Lidls, but do top up shops at the farm shop across the road from us to get seasonal (cheap!) veg.
I try really hard to work out what we have already and then mostly it's getting bits & bobs to pad out a meal. If I go to Asda/Sains/Tescos I always pick up reduced meat and freeze. I spend between £130-160 pm on groceries for 2 adults and a toddler (she has a healthy appetite!). I do a lot of baking for deserts/pack lunch boxes - nothing taxing though just muffins or brownies usually. Hths
I think Bob does it for less as well! :money:DF as at 30/12/16
