Sky wireless broadband issues...

As I said in a post else where *thinks*. I mentioned that we have 2 desk top PC's and a laptop in our house. We run them wireless via BT/SKY broadband, whixh is decent enough. Problem is when the house phone rings, all 3 computers get disconnected from the internet and we have to re-boot the wireless router, which is annoying.
Anyone know why this happens...?!

you do not have filters attached to each telephone socket0

Yes we have filters...0

Definitely sounds like a filter issue to me. If there's a an extra phone or even an unused socket unfiltered, this can take the line down. The fact that it's only when there's an incoming call leads me to think you may have wiring problems between your main socket and the extensions. Best thing to do is disconnect all wiring from the incoming master socket and connect your router directly on there to see what happens.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

As said its clearly a filter issue
Every socket needs a filter on it, even if its attached to the sky box or router etc0 -
ADSL filters are not required on every socket, only used ones.
Disconnect the Pin 3 extension wiring at the master socket, as this is redundant on an ADSL enabled line. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Just faffed around with the wiring and found that some divvy has put the filter on the extension and not on the main line.
All seems fine for now. Gonna go check the other computer and laptop now to see if they are ok...

All present and correct...
Now I need to find the divvy that did the wiring...0 -

Normally there wouldn't be a filter needed on an unused socket, but I have seen it needed on a really odd fault in a friend's house, really threw me that one.
As for pin 3, I agree totally. A lot of new phones don't need this anyway and I've found it interferes occasionally with broadband connections in very odd ways.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0
