LLoyds bank accounts closed without reason?

Hi,

Today I logged into my internet banking and noticed my savings account and one current account had disappeared!

In the remaining accounts statement, I see
CLOSURE 2398****

In that, they transferred £40 from one of my other accounts. The thing is, I know for a fact I had at least £80 in my account in total, so the other has just gone

I called up and they said a note was put on my account but she cannot say what it was and that I should receive a letter within 5 working days.

What could this be? Surely they need to let me know beforehand that they are closing one of my accounts? Also the fact £40 is missing!

How many accounts did you have and how many accounts are still open? How long had the account(s) that was/were closed been open? This sounds like the application has been declined at stage 2.

The closing account statement will detail all transactions on the account.

I had 2 current accounts and 1 savings account.
One account is still open, that had £40 left in it, which is one of my current accounts I used actively.
The main current account that was closed had been open for years (pretty sure it's the same one since I got the account 13~ years back).

The Current Account that isn't closed was opened within the last year, same with my savings account but that one got closed.

The one current account closed, wasn't used much but for direct debits for Internet bill and phone bill etc. The savings account was used almost daily.

Very strange. So there's one account left and all funds from other accounts have been transferred into it?

Try changing the paperless settings on the account that's left to see if it works. If it doesn't and says there's a technical problem it means your remaining account's been blocked.

Until you get the letter you can't know what's going on but instant closure decisions are usually fraud related (e.g. a fraudulent transaction on one of your accounts could trigger this).

Enabled paperless and their website seems to have bugged out, I'm able to see my other accounts now but they all just say N/A balance etc.

I'm able to view the statements on these accounts also but they are only up until 13 Jun 16 which is odd because I have used them after this.

I can assure you there isn't any fraudulent transactions going on :rotfl:

The one account left still works, I can use the card and transfer money etc.

Well do keep us posted as to what's gone on and if you can scan the letter when you get it (blanking out personal details) please do.

Are you certain that when you tried to change paperless settings, it went through and you got an email saying your preferences have been changed? Or did it come up with a red cross and say there's been a technical fault?

Yeah, I got an email saying my preferences have been updated.

In that case, as you say, your account that's still open isn't blocked and is still functional so it's very odd that your other accounts have been closed instantly. Normally that only happens at application stage (i.e. you apply for a new account, it's opened at stage 1 then a couple of days later it's closed at stage 2 after the application is declined but your remaining accounts stay open). When accounts have been approved at application stage, closure decisions after that normally apply to all accounts that are open.

What type of accounts were closed (classic account etc)?
