The point is that there is no further help that can be offered to you, it's a decision for you to make whether you conform to Octagon's requirements or take your business elsewhere.

So what you saying is Car Insurance companies especially Octagon can dictate whatever terms and rules they can without being regulated by regulating bodies?

If that's the case then best to go for 5* rated car insurance companies for around £300-500 more.

Based on all your protests - you make it sound like you have something to hide.

Even if the insurance co don't ask for proof of address initially - if there is a claim, that's likely to trigger far more thorough investigations.

The situation would be far worse, if there was a large claim, and the insurers then found out the policyholder had intentionally misled them about their home address.

Of course, they're a business, in it to make money, if their means of doing that requires prospective customers to meet certain criteria what is the problem with that? Your are perfectly free to take your custom elsewhere, just do your research to find a provider who offers what you want without offending your sensibilities.

I said countless times that I am worrying because after reading this:

So you saying all these posters in that thread got something to hide as well yeah?

If you want to lick Octagon behind then go ahead just don't bring it here to this thread.

Finally some good news of UK Independence Day today. Maybe now Car Insurance companies have to abide to proper UK regulations now instead of previous EU regulations.
  • I have just had a similar problem with a different company! I do everything paperless and provided them with a screen capture of my bank account with name and address, a letter from HMRC with name and address, my drivers license with name and address, my no claims bonus again with name and address etc. I am on the electoral roll and have lived at my address for 5 years plus but got married a couple of years ago. All documentation I provided them with was not accepted. In the end I had to pay the bank to send me a paper copy of my bank statement (most of the utitlity bills are in my husbands name not mine). I have never had an issue like this before and when it comes to renewing next year I most definately will be changing insurance company!
