Sandwich toaster search

Hi,
My much loved sandwich toaster packed up on me last week after 30years of good service!!

Does anyone know of a sandwich toaster that will actually take a normal sized slice of a Kingsmill loaf?

The only ones I have found are small and I don't want to cut off the best part of the bread, the Crust!
Cheers
Pam

I got rid of my George forman as it was taking upo too much room in my kitchen.
I do regret it now though.

I LOVE cheese toasties! But I hate cleaning the sandwich maker and, after Stepson put it back in the cupboard without cleaning it and left it for 3 months..... the ensuing trauma I suffered means I never want another sandwich maker in my house again!!!

I make toasted cheese sandwiches the American way. They are just as lush.

Just make a cheese sarnie as normal but then butter the outside of the bread and put it in a non stick frying pan - medium to low heat. When the underside is nicely browned, flip it over to do the other. Takes 3-4 minutes.

I do this but add a dash of olive oil to the pan to stop the butter burning too much. Get the temperature right and the bread will cook, the cheese will melt and there will be no burnt bits.

I bought the Breville VST 041 deep sandwich toaster from Amazon last year, found at £27.59 far better buy than my previous supermarket cheapies.

When my heavily used traditional "scalloped" sandwich toaster broke, the only appliance locally available was a Breville panini toaster. I was suspicious at first, but it works fine provided there isn't too much filling in the sandwich. Large slices of bread shouldn't be a problem, because there is no central division, and bread can be loaded in landscape orientation.
