talktalk security

Has talktalk suffered another security breach? I have been getting lots of scam telephone calls. I wasn't that bothered until after 5 calls in quick succession I questioned the caller & he knew my account number and address. Very worrying. talktalk don't seem bothered.

Probably they are using the data harvested from the previous breach. One of my neighbours was caught by this a couple of months ago. They managed to get his debit and credit card details before he twigged. Left two computers locked with unknown passwords which were a real pain to recover (with no backups).

  • Have you ever tried to navigate the talktalk customer services phone service. When I tried to get help with this they did not seem interested. Even when I pointed that these scammers provided me with my details. talktalk are not addressing this issue! Has there been another security breach??

TalkTalk and security. Not two words that I can associate together.

I believe one of my accounts details was taken when they were hacked, as I have received a very real email with a lot of my details that TalkTalk had on me.

Luckily it was just a old email address with no financial details on the account.

I know one thing I would never take a broadband connection from them again.

They are on my banned list with BT, no hack but are too expensive!

    Thanks Emma,

But the help would have been not being hacked not once but twice.

I wonder how much people have lost in money in scams due to the company not having the strongest anti-hack software in place.

Having a 'beat the scammers campaign' is a bit like putting a bolt on the stables door after the horse has bolted.
