I'm a big fan of Now TV as an alternative to having a full sky set up, but I don't work for Sky or get any commissions. My point is, I recently had to purchase a Now TV box for the Euro 2016 matches - only so I can watch the last 2 group games which are on at the same time. My box is connected to a projector for one match , and the other match is on the TV. Unfortunately I didn't have ITV player on any device which would connect to the projector, hence my purchase.
The reason I'm posting this, is that the Now TV box I bought cost £25 from Tesco's (I used Vouchers) and came with a 4 month movie pass which is normally about £9 a month. As I was thinking of getting the movies again soon (to catch up on films I haven't seen), I've basically got a box for less than free as I usually have the movies for 3 months to catch up, then cancel. I also noticed that Tesco are selling the boxes with Entertainment passes and sports passes, so it might actually work out cheaper to buy a new box, even if you don't need it, than to pay for a subscription. The passes work for existing customers as well as new ones. You could always sell on the box if you don't need it - a box on it's own costs about £15.

You are using a projector for Now TV in standard definition?
Now TV is fine for people on a budget who don't want to pay for a full Sky subscription, but anyone using high end equipment to view it is seriously losing out where picture and sound quality is concerned.
Sky no longer charge extra for a High Definition Movies Subscription.
On another thread you say you watch a lot of 3D movies on your Blu-Ray player, these are also available On Demand with a Sky Movies sub.
I think you're going to be very disappointed with the picture quality of Now TV compared with what you've become accustomed to.
Do yourself and your projector a favour and ditch Standard Definition wherever possible.0 -

I know what you are saying, but I didn't get the Now TV box specifically to watch with the projector, I got it so I could access the ITV player which I don't have on any other device and the only other way off watching 2 games at the same time is by using a projector and TV.
Normally, for HD movies I will have the screen at about 120 inch and it's great definition. For this purposes, I had the screen at about 50 inches and the SD is fine, although not as good as the TV (which is why I've had the inferior football game on the projector).
I would love to be able to afford full sky with HD box and all singing and dancing, but I'd rather not pay the extortionate fees they charge. The point of my initial post was that if you are subscribing to Now TV then you can save money by buying a Now TV box with free vouchers even if you don't need the box, not that Now TV is as good as a full HD Sky subscription. This is the first time I've used SD output with my projector, and I doubt it will happen again until the World Cup in 2018 - my main source is either blu-ray player, or PS4.0 -

Thats a awful lot of E waste when theres no need for it. One can purchase very cheap passes online via both Sky and third parties with no need to buy an additional box.
Query - why was a budget Now TV box the only piece of AV eqpt that would fit your high end projector?0 -
Vision Man - it wasn't the only piece of kit - it was the easiest accessible kit, that I didn't have to pay cash for, that would give me an additional money saving, in addition to fulfilling my initial requirements i.e. I had some Tesco Vouchers that I wanted to spend, I need something with ITV player to connect to my projector, and I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. I've only used it to watch 6 football matches.
In relation to the cheap passes from Sky - I've looked and I don't think you can. You can buy long passes as a new customer when you first subscribe, but you can't seem to as an existing customer. Happy to put right, but I've not seen a 4 month movie pass for under £25. The link above from worried Jim doesn't look legit to me as it talks about getting all the Sky Sports HD channels and others, which don't seem to come on Now TV anyway, and the highest definition is 720p according to the Now TV website.
Fortunately, the box won't be wasted, as I now know someone who wants one, so I'll give it to them in exchange for a 4 pack. I'm also now getting a Youview+ box next week, for free from plusnet, so in future I should be able to connect that up to my projector if I need to.0 -
Thanks for that, phil. Your gonna love that box, it really is the bees knees of smart Freeview PVRs, and is the number 1 seller. I've got 3 in the form of 2 boxes and a 4K TV.0

Never mind a good offer, its a highly illegal one.0

The fact that there are no contact details on the site should be a warning too(although address is on whois, probably not intentionally, or the right address)0
