Had to take the wifes phone into a store a few years back, no data allowance on her contract so the first thing i did was disable ALL options that may connect to the data, even down to deleting the settings.

3 months later at 4am it started connecting to the internet, trying to connect to the live360 or whatever it was.

I got that look you didnt disable the data, then he looked puzzled and said he needed to take it out the back.
Another guy brought it back and said he was stumped. They added a data allowance on for free instead of having to keep refunding me.

Other than the look of another user that didnt do it properly, he was polite otherwise.

Fat finger syndrome is a commonly used expression (in certain fields) and I use it a lot with a cheeky grin. OP was too sensitive or trying to get a freebie.

Hence the website used on Ebay items called "fat fingers". Basically it is just making typos by catching the next key. Nothing to be offended about, we all do it.

Clearly the problem lies at the point of the original sale. If fat finger syndrome is a known issue with smart phones and if vodaphone shops look out for it as an explanation when customers seek solutions, then why of why cant it be brought to their attention at to original sale.

This may result in no sale, or a recommendation of a product more suited to the individual. This would lead to enhanced customer satisfaction rather than a negative post on a popular forum

    What an amazing useful post.

Maybe people that work in shops should vet all customers?

'Oh no Sir you look too poor to afford this, will your children go without their micro-chips if you buy this?'.

The same way that garages sell cars to anyone 'Really Sir, you are too fat to drive a Porsche, think of the brand'.

    Get a grip....

Then they should ignore individual customers' needs and circumstances and get accused of miselling, presumbly - to avoid "getting a grip". I work in sales and always advise customers according to their needs, objectives, circumstances and (usually) large lack of product knowledge in what they are buying (and with products which require far less technical knowledge than smart phones).

It seems at odds with your earlier suggestion of "giving them a test". THAT would really go down well.

I told a fat person once that it wasnt a great idea for them to buy a 760 x 760 shower. I ended up selling them a 900 x 900 (at a higher cost) and im sure they are happier that the door doesnt burst open every time they pick up the soap.

Its a bit like the issue with iphones and left handed users. Instead of saying it was a bit daft to put the aerial in a position in which the recpetion would be effected by left handed users, they just turned around and said just use your right hand. If people wouldve been aware of the issue prior to purchase they probably wouldnt have bought one.
