Ok, not sure if this has been mentioned before...
When your 12 months is up. Do the usual, "I'm going to leave unless you give me best handset & match competitors call deal, on a £30 per month package"
Dont open your phone, flog on ebay, an unused Samsung D500 will get £200. That's then a £30 a month tariff for £8ish.
If your current phone breaks, just get sim free colour/cam phone from woolies for £55. and unlock it.

Better still, wait for a CPW super offer of £5 a month plus a nokia 6230, sell the 6230 and make £100 PROFIT rather than paying £5 a month!0
