All Bran - sugar content

All Bran has always had one of the higher sugar contents of the "unsweetend" cereals - this is not a new issue at all.
If you have ever tasted raw/unsweetened bran, then you will know why it needs it!0 -

There was a period (from the mid 70s?) where eggs were frowned upon because of thir potential impact on cholesterol/heart issues and they did advise lowering consumption but this advice was wound back some years ago.0 -

Ah yes the old dietary cholesterol causes actual cholesterol.
The thing I still don't get is why they would recommend that for diabetes which is a blood sugar regulation issue.0 -

Because it's important for people with diabetes that they control their cholesterol levels as well, due to the overall increased cardiovascular risk. It's more important for people with diabetes than it is for people without diabetes.0 -

Okay so they originally thought it would help, makes sense!0 -
Cholesterol is a sore point with me, at the moment. after years of being below target, the last but one reading was slightly above, so my statins were doubled.
This time the readings are up again and the diabetes nurse asked the receptionist to call me and ask how I feel about doubling again.
My answer was to hold fire, as these two sudden increases are very odd.
I have to take statins for other reasons beyond having diabetes.0 -

Are you having your test at the same time of day? Cholesterol varies at different times. One thing I have a gripe about that often people will only have one test and be told they have high cholesterol. You may well do but at least take a decent scientific comparison.0
