Maybe you are all good, it's just the information you are giving that's the problem. You say you recently started a new job, lenders like to see stability and maybe this is enough for you to drop out of their eligibility range.
  • Ok suppose I do have a cifas marker ... Is there any way to get this removed?

You have a joint account with your fiance which means that your files are linked. What is on her credit file?

Also it seems that you have no credit history since the defaults, which means that your credit file is very thin. And lack of credit history is not the same as good credit history as it means they know nothing about how responsible are you with debt (beside that you had defaults in before).
Also if that defaulted overdraft still shows that will also warranty very much an instant rejection for most credit.
  • If the fact you have no credit history is the problem, catalogue accounts can be a good way to build a credit history without too much hassle and expense, just buy cheap items you need from them on finance, then pay it off in one lump sum.
  • There is no defaults on my fianc!es credit file. She was accepted for a capital one credit card in September last year in order to boost her credit score.

The reason I have not had any credit since my defaults is because I can't get any! I get rejected for everything and as I said above I can't even get car insurance in my name or a basic bank account.

I have stopped applying for credit in the past year as their seems no point as every time i do I get into the dreaded rejection spiral.

I think this cifas stuff could be something , going to write to them to see if I have any fraud warnings.

If you cant get car insurance id be very worried...even as a bankrupt i was allowed car insurance and paying monthly at that.

There must be a huge red X against your name somewhere...looks like that SAR is your best option.
