Ashbourne Management Gym Membership Help!

Hi all,
Both myself and a friend had the same issues with this company but luckily we were able to go back with enough to make them cancel our accounts.
We signed up for a fitness class which we paid via Dd with Ashbourne. We were told we could cancel at anytime but preferably the gym would like 30 days to sort the direct debit out. Our paper work said minimum amount of payments ..... which we filled in as N/A and then further down it said you must pay ..... amount of payments and we left this blank. We also wrote on the form that this was a rolling membership. We sent off the white copy and luckily kept the yellow copy.
After a couple of months we decided the class wasn!!!8217;t for us so cancelled the member ship with the gym and cancelled the direct debit as advised by the gym. A few weeks later I received quite a strong letter saying my account was overdue and I had to pay the membership + a £25 fee.
I called them up and explained that I had cancelled. The lady was so rude with no customer service skills. She said I couldn!!!8217;t cancel as I!!!8217;d signed a 6 month contract. I told her that I hadn!!!8217;t and wouldn!!!8217;t be paying any more and she went on to tell me how she was looking at my signed contract which clearly said 6 months. Luckily for me, I was looking at the same contract which said no minimum term. I told her that I would email my yellow signed copy which clearly showed there was no minimum term and I said I wanted in return her apparent copy as someone, either the gym or Ashbourne had forged it.
I emailed my contract and I got a reply minutes later telling me my account had been closed and no further payments were needed.
My friend went through exactly the same where they tried to push the fact she had signed up for 6 months. Luckily us having the paperwork and demanding to see what contract they had did the trick.
I think this company tries it!!!8217;s luck the best they can. After all they!!!8217;re not only a direct debit management company but also a debt collection company. Collecting money is what they do and I don!!!8217;t think they care how they do it.
Get your documents out and ask to compare to what they have. Don!!!8217;t take what they say if you don!!!8217;t think it
Seems right!0
