If we exit EU will pound fall against the dollar?

Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere else, but does anyone have any idea whether the pound is likely to plummet against the dollar if we end up leaving the EU next week?
I travelling to the US at the end of July and don't know whether to stock up on dollars before Thursday.
Any help/views would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

General consensus seems to be fall. Every time an opinion poll comes out thinking we might leave the £ goes south0

The pound has already fallen... if the Remain side prevails then it is likely to go back to normal levels.

Would it be wise to wait or change now?. I'm going to the USA in July0

The pound has already fallen, thanks to the nervousness brought about by the Brexit hooha.
We're also going to the States in July, so have bought some dollars. We're living in hope of a remain vote and back to a decent rate. We'll be using our Saga and Nationwide cards anyway.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

If we vote to remain, people think the pound will shoot back to "normal" rates? Hardly.
As the 2nd poster said, the pound will fall whatever happens. However it will recover. How far, whatever the vote is a mystery. Probably not more than it has been the past 6/12 months if we vote remain; if we vote to leave, it could get really good - if our country's leaders allow it.0 -
The pound has perked up at start of trading this morning to $1.45/1.46, so it may be a good moment to buy dollars if you're so inclined - but who really knows?
Don't forget that the value of the pound is measured in comparison to other currencies, so whatever is influencing their values is also a factor in the exchange rates. For example, the euro's moderate gain against the dollar also this morning indicates a weakness of the dollar at the moment.
A British vote for self-harm on Thursday will also cause repercussions throughout Europe and worldwide, including currency values, and the uncertainty is already having effects. Last week Japanese markets took a nosedive because the yen strengthened so much by being bought as a 'safe haven' currency by investors.
But, I am really not an expert...Evolution, not revolution0 -
