This is somewhere I really want to go again. We flew to Split and stayed on the island of Bol. Went over to Split for the day, to Dubrovnik (but didnt have long enough there) and to Mostar where we watched the young lads dive off the famous bridge. there was a programme on last week in narrated by Michael Palin where he visited the bridge, they have done a really good job of the reconstuction.

Just found that clip of Michael Palin on YouTube! Thanks for that. Wasn't it sad to see so many buildings still showing the bomb damage and bullet holes? Still a very beautiful place tho. We actually stayed in a place called Donji Seget near the island of Tregir which is a World Heritage Site. Too many visitors in Split and Dubrovnik for me. I would love to go back too....

Croatia is a beautiful country. Food, booze, accommodation is cheap- well it was when I went a few years ago. Not sure exactly where your headed but Plitvička Jezera is one of the main national parks and is fantastic, get there early to avoid the queues and take a good pair of walking shoes. Think you can book a day trip from Zagreb and go by coach or hire a car.

Dubrovnik is usually stowed off with tourists especially if there is a cruise ship in. It was hot when I went in May so dare say it will be hotter now.

Having said that I much preferred it's two neighbouring countries Slovenia and Bosnia Herzegovina :) Though slovenia was more expensive as it's part of the euro, I call it a mini NZ, but closer to home.

    Enjoy

Hi, just got back from Croatia...we stayed near Split this time. Weather was perfect, sunny and hot but not as oppressive as it has been here lately. Especially enjoyable was a trip to the Krka falls and a day trip to Mostar in Bosnia to see the beautifully reconstructed bridge that was blown up in the war. Hope you have a great time!

Thanks for the tips  It will be our first visit. OH and I did a lot of travelling all over the world pre-kids, but this will be our first child-free holiday for 20 years

We are going to the Northern part - the Istrian peninsula. Staying near Pula - accommodation has been quite hard to find. Planning to visit Rovinj and a couple of the hill villages - Mostovun and/or Groznjan.

    Morning :)

Going to forget about the leak today we are off to Swanage for fish and chips. Mr TS bit more energetic than me he is riding. I will drive and park outside of town for free and walk in. :)

I went to Swanage end of last year.......it rained :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Actually was down to photograph Durdle Door ;) Never trust the weather forecast. One tutor liked my image - thats because he wasn't aware of the place :eek: The other tutor hated it :D and much preferred my Pembrokeshire image. He's my tutor for next year but think he is the tutor to get the best out of me.

Stari Most was my main main reason for going, growing up was a kid and seeing the bridge destroyed on the news I just knew that one day I would go. We stayed with a family who made us feel very welcome, i'll never forget their hospitality. But the scenery is just wow, weaving our way through the valleys and the road to Sarajevo, you can see the city from miles back, it just one long straight road that takes you to the centre.
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

Enterprise.....you will love the Lavada walks on Madeira...fabulous!...if you have a Go Outdoors near you, they have a good selection of walking shoes/boots, plus they offer a price promise, so if you find it cheaper on the internet, they give you the difference plus 10% back.

Thank you, really looking forward to the walks there:D

Not really got a Go Outdoors nearby. Really annoyed, sports direct had about 15 different mens pairs of walking shoes in and ONE pair of lady's ones

    Afternoon all.
The elite are a collective of advice on all aspects of life, so here goes....

What is the best way to attach wedding ribbons to the front of a seat alhambra? I thought we could just tie it on to the wing mirrors, but have been told that it won't work as the doors opening will cause it to go slack. My DH wondered about attaching it to the roof bars, but that will mean it will go over the windscreen. Someone else suggested using the sun visors and making sure it isn't twisted through the doors.

    So, has anyone done this??

Hi marrbett, I did this to my car for my brothers wedding, we tied it to the handle above the front doors, on the inside of the car at the roof level, kept it nice and tight because as soon as you start driving it does flap otherwise, eBay was reasonable for the kit, front ribbons and a corsage for the rear door handles ,looked cute :)

We're getting married on Saturday. This never occurred to me (heads off to find out if VW camper vans and KIA sportages have interior handles)

Afternoon all - just spend an hour catching up while stretched out on the recliner. Really pleasant with a lovely balmy breeze.

So belated Happy Birthday to Nellie35 and LS hope you both had a fabulous day.. Did think of you Rhos hope the wedding went well - looking forward to the piccies.

See Nanna and Nerfy were car booting at the weekend - hope you made loads of £££s to spend on treats. Really must get around to sorting out stuff so I can do one as the house needs a major declutter.

Got a severe trouting in Waities at the weekend over using a bold internet coupon the queue was held up as coupon was scrutinised by 3 different SAs and then taken away to show to someone else. I did offer to pay for my shopping and take the matter up at the CS desk as it was causing a delay to those behind me but was told no I would have to wait where I was. Needless to say it didn't make my queue very happy but they directed the blame at the staff concerned and not me. In the end some Manager came down bleating on about how they had so many fraudulent coupons in the past few days but no apology. My hackles were really up by then and I said I hoped she wasn't suggesting that I was trying to past a fraudulent coupon worth a £1 and while she was at it she not only owed me an apology for the delay but also all the others behind me in the queue. Her response was that she needed to see some identification so that I could prove that I was the person named on the coupon. So the queue started laughing when I produced my passport and said I only wanted a few groceries at check out not to check in for an international flight. :rotfl::rotfl:

Made me laugh as they accepted £6 coupon even though after using my Waites card it was a lot less than the Conditional Spend :D. without batting an eyelid.

Enjoy the rest of the day x

All the Walkers are Spell and Go so lots to check out later on.:D
