Remember that standard is £1million rebuild costs.
My house worth £150,000
contents value, no more than £25000.00
No high value items.
no legal aid or emergency cover
No new for old
Excess £400
no nearby water or trees
no flooding record
8+ years no claims
non smokers
Took an afternoon searching, but well worth it.
I got mine in March through TCB to Aviva. Aviva cost £98.99, £50 TCB net £48.99. Tracked.
09 Mar 2017 £98.99 £50.00
21 weeks
Thanks.
I always have £0 voluntary excess with just the £100 compulsory.
Notice yours is £400 perhaps I should increase!
The past couple of years I have added family legal aid as well.
The cheapest direct comparison this afternoon was Churchill but was still nearly £200 so may have to rethink....however only have 2 days!
Thanks for the info.curl girl with a space - even though there is no space in my cupboard!!!0 -
My car insurance was done the same way, high excess, been doing it for about 10 years that way. Every year I change. This year fully comp, protected no claims through Quidco insurer RIAS, £234 and £50 tracked CB
Also when I took out mortgage I didn't take the £100+ a month that the NEXT home guy was selling (big commision for him)
I got term life insurance for 25 years for £100,000 at £13 a month, will pay off mortgage and then some.0 -
Thanks.

In my own opinion, it's a gamble, after all that what insurance is. I have a kitty now in a seperate bank account that can be used if any insurances are needed and excess paid. Play with the quotes and increase excess and see what happens to premium and also the question all money savers need to ask all the time. "Do I need it" legal cover? Low excess? New for old? It's all up to yourself..

I suppose we're all chancers.
An elderly neighbour told me that her previous property had subsidence, she lost it completely as the insurance company wouldn't pay anything!
She only recently passed away and had lived in her new property over 20 years, refusing to take out any home insurance saying it was a con. :eek:curl girl with a space - even though there is no space in my cupboard!!!0 -
