They're all good (all versions of the track). I remember I bought the "album length single" at the time it was out, on the basis that I'd never heard of the artist or the track and that they weren't on the radio playlists at all and therefore the music was bound to be good. And it was (and is!). It;s one of my favourite pieces of "music". In fact, it's not good - it's excellent! They all are, anything not on the radio I'm almost bound to like. Only the 0.00001% of stuff that I don't - is all over there all the time (presumably as it's so unbearable, every new song, that I don't tune in - and also drowns out the good and makes it nigh on impossible to find. So, I don't even bother with it at all - and over 90% of people still listen each week:rotfl:. I do know, as whenever I encounter anything 'new' in a public place (fortunately quite rarely) I don't really like it - strangely, when they go back to the 1980s or early 1990s or before the 1980s, they nearly always pick good stuff but go back to "the time after it went rubbish for me" and they always immediately lose any taste and pick complete rubbish (IMO). Nothing on there from the last twenty years is anything a patch on what I listen to from that period (and have either had to own or use Youtube because it's not available elsewhere). I did try a playlist selection questionnaire for one radio station a few years ago - and clicked I didn't like every tune on every one that got an excerpt played to me:rotfl:. Because I didn't. And occasionally I use the comparemyradio.com website just to prove that I'm right and that, indeed, my favourite artist of the moment has got zero plays on there. As indeed turns out to be the case. So that's how I know I won't like it, even though I never voluntarily listen. Find the radio station that plays your music, the website suggests! Well, there you are - it's got zero plays so there is none. Point proven:p:rotfl:. "Useless" using a "comparison" site if all the options are not to your liking and nowhere at all is coming back as playing what you like:rotfl::rotfl:. But which is "entertaining" as it provides the enjoyment of my own being right about the matter yet again:D (that they really aren't playing it like I think they will be not be).0 -

http://comparemyradio.com/search.php?q=x+cabs
"Your search didn't return any results":rotfl:.
But then it won't - as, I suspect, if it was played in the first place and I knew it, I managed to catch it on every one of the entire total of six plays that it got played across all radio hours, always in the evening, never on commercial radio and then it was taken off the air, whilst I was (somehow:D, maybe I never tuned in to stations I didn't like that was how:idea::rotfl:) avoiding managing to hear anything that got played zillions of times across every station in daytime hours (when most people listen) and in the evenings in most places. As it was never popular, they are not going to go back and play it now. So it will come back no trace 17 years later. And people generally won't know about the track since it was never played at any time when more people listen to the radio. Just my contentions. Probably totally true:rotfl:. And no-one's interested in them at all.
So, for me, everything on current radio playlists - I've no idea about at all and it's completely weird songs by unknowns. I'm happy with all my non-weird music of all genres that aren't popular. Just like every genre, almost literally, except for the commercial side of every one of them. In other words, everything except pop:rotfl:. I do like pop - from "the time before it went rubbish" hence when they pick 80s etc. I always know them and don't dislike them. However, usually they pick (for me) the few duff tunes and don't play the wide breadth of everything else - and it's the "everything else" that I like. So, whilst I probably won't dislike Absolute 90s, except that once it gets to 1999, yet again the tunes I'll dislike those, but it's just the same ones most of the time that I've got bored of and all of what they call the "duds" on their website are the ones that are my favourites. They seem to think a lot was not good in the 90s - whereas all of what they're probably not playing (and nowhere else seems to be either) is all of what I'm still playing now. But then it doesn't matter, as I play my own tunes and don't need to listen to the radio. And I can catch up with hourly radio news, if I want, thanks to my radio-controlled clock (so avoid any commercials immediately before the hour:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:). I do get "worried" though when they are five seconds away from the alloted end time and don't seem to be quickly enough wrapping up to end in time, though they always do:rotfl:. Just... shocking that they're running out of time and might get cut off! Phew, that was close! I know, I'm a weird person (and wonderful), in my own way. Never weird in any sinister sense though. That's the thing though - everything about radio is about exact timing isn't it? No-one's interested:rotfl:. Of course, I can catch up (e.g. radio news) anytime on the internet, with last bulletin etc., and usually do so (on the rare occasions that I do).0 -

There we are again - a warning of "uncomradey(?) language" just now on the TV. So I didn't switch off as I expected it. But it was bleeped, and they didn't warn me about that. All it has done is take away the tone and way in which it was originally said, which is vital information and it has deprived me of that. And I'm now thinking about it, minutes later. What I ought to do is ignore it - but they've made it more difficult to do and have almost annoyed me (they give no warning specifically about it) except they have not. The only reason it is not is because the unbleeped version wouldn't have bothered me here, because otherwise it's the same thing.
I guess they do it because some people don't want to hear things like that. And, even if warned, don't want a worthy news programme disrupted by that content. However, if someone really found it bad, then the bleeped version would be too much, which I guess is why they warned. But they didn't warn that it would be bleeped and that's potential PTSD trigger material for me nowadays, so have given me and told me about no way to avoid it (since by the warning I expected it to be unbleeped - and wouldn't switch off since that's okay to me). Not that I wanted to avoid this - even though it leaves me trying not to think about and get bothered by it. What attention drawing anyway - and, these days, a reminder (for me) of an offence that otherwise, without it, would no longer exist. I think this is an example of how things get used and slowly becomes less offensive, or inoffensive, whilst other things that are associated with (e.g. bleeping) become contaminated and associated and become offensive. I actually find the bleeped version more bothersome these days - potentially at least - and, yet again, I wasn't warned specifically that that's what it would be. Nor would I have needed a warning in the past, as it was always okay (the bleeped version that is). Nowadays, tbh, I'm fed up with it and it's a perpetuated reminder of offence and therefore potentially for me more annoying and offensive. I must ignore it - now probably thirty minutes later (I would have done had it not been bleeped!). What an issue this gets me into! What a state. Trying to move on... (except that I suspect I'll wake up tomorrow morning and think back about it again and then, possibly, get upset).
I could have put it out of my mind had it not been there, because that's the only place it is. Except that I'd find it embarrassing to be warned about bleeped versions now, as they're supposed to be less severe (and yet it seems these days I can't cope with them as well). Perhaps I ought to copy this and put it in a complaint to the Beeb. Not that it is aimed at getting them to put the unbleeped rush on that others don't want to hear:rotfl:. I think ignore it - I've already failed at that - as complaints just going to fail to ignore it even more and remind me again about it if and when I'd get a reply.
I was also caught once with a bleeped daytime episode of Big Brother whilst at the hairdressers. And that was not a nice experience, especially as it was several times (and some of the language, later I discovered, went up the scale compared to what it was originally. They manage to bleep mild words and make it seem like more severe ones, that's what they come across as. I found that out when later seeing the same episode but completely unbleeped after 9pm and in my own home where that does not bother me). Also had the TV in my dentist's waiting room - other patients around - one bleep and, again, severe discomfort. That word was obvious. And, by the way, it does no good to cover up the mouth with a complete black block (or whatever colour) as that draws attention too and I can even less pretend that people around me won't have seen that and will not know from the soundtrack what might have been said (whether or not it actually was). So, there you are: the person (me) who is, in the wrong situation, potentially offended more by a bleeped version that has also now covered their lips with a block than by (already bad enough) a bleeped version that leaves the lips intact (although that would also be problematic because of the soundtrack). It does not matter how much they try to cover it up. They just can't erase it. Nor would I want them to here at home - I needed to know what was said (even though his mention of the "uncomradey language" put the same word in my head anyway). I don't why - it's just one of those things, hey ho. Not much point really, no difference, just potentially more annoying and deprived me of the tone of how it was originally said. So, I can't judge it properly in context (especially as the context has been changed). But, if it's disapproved by the BBC, then I must fully agree with what he said. And try and forget the thing.
EDIT: No, the word still flinging around my head, over thirty/forty/fifty minutes later. Inspiring intrusive thought in myself. Would have forgotten it all by now had it been not bleeped at all.
EDIT 2: It is, it's annoying - it's still there and I can't get rid of the thought. Just not actually physically gone into annoyance reaction yet - but, sorry, it is mind numbing and is attempting to upset me. Sorry folks, I don't feel quite well now. Just a minute - mild heart race threatening, a bit upset again - but not too badly, probably 5% of me not okay. I hope this is not a PTSD attack - fancy failing to warn me about the precise nature of the material as I'm okay with unbleeped versions (at home) but apparently not bleeped ones in recent years - but then, it's problematic as seeing the sky with a deeper colour of blue can provoke PTSD in someone - seeing the sunshine nicely can be triggering if it was really sunny on a day on which you were physically attacked. It's not too bad a reaction, so don't worry, that I'm having but I do feel a bit of a weird turn right now. It's very minor, not as bad as I've experienced before, but I do need to try and calm down, get some sleep perhaps and then come back. I'll just get on with M list I think and try and distract... right, next!!...
They've never played unbleeped versions out in any public places where I've ever had any problems with them, so that's why I now get this sort of reaction to the bleeped ones instead (even though the actual bleeped Big Brother instance isn't one that I regularly experience - it's most usually that final one, in 2009, that gave me my PTSD - I didn't know at the time but two months later heart-racing started when I thought about it (triggered from something else) and then it slowly became clear that that's what it was). A trigger to so-called "censored" edits that are supposed to protect me but have, clearly, resoundingly failed and achieved the total opposite of what they were 'supposed' to do - and usually now more likely annoy me. It's based on life experiences and everything else.
I'm certainly not feeling normal at the moment but what I am feeling is not that bad. (Just about somehow holding on there and not getting actually triggered, or not just yet. I think the time lapse now (seven years) is slowly helping but it can never rectify what went on and happened in the past, as that always happened regardless of anything at all now done, and cannot prevent the reminders of it from coming back even though they are now more fading memories. You know, it's no-one's fault here - and, somehow, I also think I like it as I keep discussing it - I do like going into depth with things, although sometimes it's not good to do so as it gets you reminded about things.)
Last edit: I think my post here, more generally, may be useful to people about trauma more generally and about dealing with it, as we all have some of these sorts of things in our lives.0 -
