Savvybuyer wrote: »It is - I think it is those events, usually sadly great calamities, where "you remember where you were". It is 28 years since the disaster at Hillsborough. For me, even though it's not a round decade number, I think it has greater resonance today as it is a Saturday afternoon. I remember that I was walking, somewhat insignificantly, in the City Centre doing shopping. I had just walked past Argos and then past an electrical store, probably Curry's, with a bank of television sets visible from the street. On the televisions I saw the disaster beginning to unfold. I shall never forget that - and I got home that evening and the newsflashes came on. It will be the same day of the week today, as it is 28 days and the days of the week in the calendar repeat every 28 years. So, as we remember the disaster, spare some thoughts for those that lost loved ones or were left with tragic memories themselves, as we pause to reflect on that tragic day.
I can't imagine what it must have been like for those who lost family and friends that day.'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

This doesn't mean the Cinnamon Cupcake is brand new in M and has just come into everyone's stores. I only have one M with a pound shop and these candles are part of that. I happen to have visited that place again and have gone through the candles, as best as I can, and found this additional one. The stores do not have all versions each time but some items are absent whilst others arrive and change around. Surely by now though I have all of the Granny Robinson's candles?!?:rotfl: (I can't fudge this - they all have different BCs.)0 -
I have lost, unless/until I find them again, the Finish dishwasher tablets 34 packs (both flavours) in the stores which I selected this week and I suspect they may have sneaked onto RTC while I've been away from M. I hope it is not of the 'no good' kind of being £6 offer, going up to full price £12 and then to £6 RTC:wall:. They have disappeared completely on me which must surely indicate something - I don't see why they would take items off shelves and put them into storage when they can sell them so they must clear out in some way.
Although I say I've "lost" these items, along with others I mentioned earlier, this doesn't mean I've failed to find lots of items - I've just mentioned a few that I have, for now, lost and in fact I've found a great deal of what I needed to find and I think done rather well.
It's no shopping day at stores tomorrow, unless you have a really small store that is allowed to open but, this time, I'll continue updating the list all the way through. I've done one sheet of paper (both sides!) fully:j. At this rate, it'll take about a week for the whole lot to be done.you may say - however, I tend to make myself look worse than most people would, because I don't exaggerate or "gild the lily" to make people look at me positively but, instead, I give a truthful and accurate estimate as to what I think. In the end, not only does this tend not to let people down, by saying I can do things within two days and then failing to deliver, but I may well, in the event, take less than my estimated 'one week or so' (or so - just in case I take even longer:rotfl:) and, if I end up taking less time than my estimate, in the end you'll be pleased with me. Even if now, unlike most people, I'm making myself look bad.
So, possibly a week at this rate. I have "hundreds and hundreds" of items - okay, I exaggerate a bit:D! I will move around different pages and pick which bits to do and then move to others, so that I don't get bored by remaining in one store with the same set of similar items, if I get fed up of one aisle, I'll move to another one and then move back later:cool:.
I don't think the 'difficulty' (which is not really one, as I don't find it difficult, it just takes time and takes as long as it takes, especially with me going off and doing other things in the meantime and then coming back) is a lot to do with the length of time between visiting the stores, as I have been doing some sections of items in the weeks in between (although not comprehensively, just an attempt to get it closer to price check day and then try to give less to do) but I think it's more to do with the number of stores that leaves more items to update and then I'm updating all of the ranges, that I am aware of, again in one lot of updating (over several days).
So far the updating this time has shown how necessary it is to take accurate details of products - there are different versions of products and my accurate taking of details is essential to be able to update the list. I don't think just anyone could do this list, if they did not take details accurately enough. I must admit that, last time and the time before, I started getting bored of the updating and it was a bit of a drag but somehow I persevered with it - hopefully my starting to update sooner after going to M will help this time. I actually prefer it when I am visiting the stores and taking the details - even though that takes a full day and then some extra stores on another day, it doesn't seem bad when doing it. The updating of the information once got takes much longer. I check each individual item and have to see whether the item is already on the list or not so, again, going through the list with a single item and checking whether it is already there is actually quite long-winded and then again with another item and then again.
I've deleted a lot of, probably most, expired items but can't guarantee that some expired items are not still on the list as the details may be found anywhere in the mass of information that I have and will be changed when I come across it - indeed, I know the odd item is still on the list that has changed but I can't remember what the new details are or I think I know but I'm not sure my memory is fully correct so will need to check what I actually have. So, I've left the old information until I reach the new details that I have.
Anyway, I'd best get on with it as and when I come back here again (can't stay writing posts that take up time themselves to write). There's a lot of duplicate to delete several times over and cross off as already done as the items that were carried over from store to store to store to store, going through that however many stores I have (although fewer items each successive time) is the long job. I'm not sure whether it is best to go through the list, as I normally do, and at the outset remove from memory all that I remember expiring or whether it is best to leave all the expired items on the list, potentially for several days, and only delete each item as I get to it (which could be right at the end, in several days' time) - the problem I think with the former approach, that of deleting as many of the expired items as I can so the list is 'good as far as it goes' from an early point, is that I then eventually reach the expired items written down in the details I have and then am going through the list to check that they are not there (very long trying to look for something that isn't there!) and not remembering for sure whether I took them off the list. So, I have to check everything again - not sure if that's best. The alternative is leaving numerous items that have expired on the list, until, one by one over several days, I reach them and knowing that items have expired but leaving them there and not removing them (until I get to them in the written info. that I have).
Anyway - enough - I have, I think, taken off quite a lot of what has expired but there will still be a few on the list that need removing as and when I get to them in my details - I am aware they have expired if you are looking through my list and seeing things you know are not now on in M! I do know - don't worry:rotfl:. If there is stuff there that has expired, you'll see it duly disappear just as soon as I can get to it. So bear with me:cool:.
I think I have mentioned, in specific postings, what I needed to mention that was good - but, again, I may come across something later that I should have mentioned:( - so my apologies for that if I do. You'll all find everything quicker than me:rotfl:. I do have some more scented jars/candles and pot pourri to add to the list - the Island Waters version I now have on the list (newly added items are in bold again) was found in a store by itself and I just happen to have done the page that included that store but I did have several more elsewhere and will put them on as and when I get to the information, just to let you know! There's also some more Can Cook tinned items now on RTC - a couple at 92p but not the Italian version which, as far as I am aware, is full price (told it was that at the till, same till at which I was told another was the RTC price, so probably more trustworthy the information I got from there and Italian version marked on shelf at full price everywhere that it is in existence and only the other two having the RTC labels). I think, nay I know, they are Pork Meatballs products so, instead of waiting for them to appear on the list, which may take days or may be today, you can see if they are in the appropriate tinned aisle of your M and what you have got there from Monday onwards. Maybe should wait to see if they go lower:rotfl:. You'll have forgotten the 34 Finish dishwasher by now, but not now I have said this, so who knows if anyone finds that and whatever price they may have - a long-shot might be really cheap?
I think I have one of the Quantum 30s and maybe 45 or 60, somewhere else in my information, will need to see what I got when I get to the relevant part of the right page - so didn't lose everything - I think I have a couple that are on RTC although probably not very good - more at the level of a bog-standard still q.expensive offer price probably than any real cheap clear-out (we'll see what I had, as that was now a few days' ago, from Wednesday).
There's another one I can cross off - I keep crossing off an item every few seconds as I see I have done it. Enough. I will return later to it now as closing up my shop for the night, so goodnight, and will now leave it from where I can start later.
See you soon:wave:.0 -

I think there weren't many people around earlier - was everyone at their supermarkets on late Easter Saturday trying to find some short-date bargains?streetlights wrote: »Good evening I hope you are well and have enjoyed your day. Womble dated today. AvM

They don't use my local stores then, as I don't have these items anywhere near to me, but they like getting exotic items just like I like getting:D! I do know about those - had to visit elsewhere as always - I would never have found my 'cheap' Easter eggs, that I happened already to be there, anywhere nearby either as 'they never have anything good in my stores'. The Nongshim noodles don't make the list as not considered good enough price. Instead I have (probably more expensive:rotfl:) several different packets of Ko-Lee Noodles, including some that I think I haven't already got on the list, that I will go through comprehensively to see what I have got when I get to them on the page! (Did I miss them last time, having had a year and two ago, or did I have them but some of them turned out not to be stocked by A online?) I'll now be looking to see if I have 80g Coriander btw:rotfl:.
Later:wave:.
EDIT: Actually, regarding my opening line, Easter Monday may be a very good day for reductions on fresh stuff as the nice:D closure for a day is nice for us in the sense that it helps lose a day for the stores (anything that hurts them helps us and vice versa - our interests totally opposed!) and it may leave them with a lot of surplus stock to get rid of on Monday. A lot unfortunately (from waste POV) goes to waste - well, my riposte to that is that they shouldn't order what they won't sell then should they?:p If they get their stock levels right, then the 'problem' won't arise for them in the first place, so their own 'fault' if they have to offer stuff cheap (though let's hope, for us, there is some). I did find a lot after Christmas once as the stores, by closing, lost a day - so I suspect the same will happen with today - means those BB dates are now a day sooner as they will not be selling anything today and it will all be there tomorrow. Anyway - have a nice NSD today:).0
