Errant son is working his way back across country again and heading in our direction so our peace and calm will be shattered shortly.

Thursday he was helping his brother and Gf unpack at the new place and they started work on the flat packs and furniture building.

Friday morning they discovered a vital bit of wardrobe door was missing so off they set again for Ikea - Ive no idea which Ikea as the new place is in an Ikea wasteland.

Gf said it would never have happened if she had gone with them on wednesday.

I just had to bite my tongue until it bled not to say they could have got nearly everything they needed from the furniture warehouse place, probably better quality more suitable for a little cottage than modern identikit white mass produced Ikea furniture ... but what do I know ...

Very interesting back story to IKEA, Little bit about it here,

They're not one of the top 5 retailers in the world for nothing...

they make good quality goods at a reasonable price :)

I bought 2 chest of drawers for less that £50 each last week to replace the previous 2 I had which cost over £100 each, the Ikea units are far better quality :)

Evening all! I enjoyed Doctor Who, I actually jumped even though I knew something bad was coming :rotfl:

That article inspired me to look up Ikea hackers website again, it's amazing how people can be so creative, mixing and matching different bits of ikea furniture and some wooden moulding, paint and wallpaper :D

I've enjoyed an evening of tv, BGT had me in floods of tears over The missing Choir though, very emotional. Wouldn't it be wonderful if on the back of their appearance tonight that even just a few of the missing came forward?

Thanks locarr for the link, very interesting reading. I've had some great quality fitted sheets from Ikea, oh how I wish we had a store nearer. They do make some stunningly cheap sturdy pieces :D

    Evening all

Just spent a wonderful afternoon with N, my dd and dgd in the West End watching 42nd Street. Can't recommend it highly enough and Tom Lister is my new secret crush:)

Hope N is up for Annie in august.

I refitted the spare room with Ikea bookcases, all bought secondhand (off fleabay) - the thinking being that if they'd lasted that long they would last a few more years (as they have).
I've also bought new from Ikea (lucky enough to live within a few miles of a superstore) and never had a problem with the products.
But I've also bought vintage/s-h furniture, and had items specially made (to fit a particular spare or to specific requirements), and never had a problem with those either ... maybe I've just been lucky:)
