I've decided to start saving them and see what I can make of them. As far as I know the field was only ever used for grazing so I'm puzzled. Anyone know how I can start finding out a bit more?
That is a fab piece of pottery.
In our new house, we had to have an archaeologist present when the foundations were being dug (is it wrong to admit he got the job because he had a fab name!!).
Thank god nothing significant was found that would stop the build, but he did find loads of bits and bobs, and in his report (council demanded this) he told us what they are.... I am going to have them put in a display thingamabob when we eventually get in!

Well by teatime tomorrow we will have had three fine days.... :rotfl:
Merseyside- Yellow early warning of rain
From: 1700 on Tue 19 JulyTo: 1800 on Wed 20 July Updated 18 July at 10:28
Thunderstorms breaking out over parts of Northern Ireland later on Tuesday are expected to extend northeast to affect parts of Scotland overnight and into Wednesday morning. There is also potential for some severe thunderstorms to develop across Wales, northern England and the Midlands. Here, the risk is greatest during Wednesday, by which time the risk of storms will be reducing across the west of the yellow area - and then finally also reducing across the east of the area by Wednesday evening.
Whilst most places will miss the worst, please be aware of the risk of flash flooding. Frequent lightning, large hail and strong winds could be additional hazards. All of this could lead to some flooding of homes, businesses and transport networks. Disruption to power is also possible.

Izzy what have you built?
Your council may be nice... ours is horrid and evil and not fit for purpose. It took 3.5 years to get planning permission. They did things like remove documents from the planning file that would support our case (i.e. confirming that a substantive start had begun). I worked for the authority, and found out by a random comment one of the customer services women said to me when she collected the file and they were taking docs out of it (they did not realise I always take presents for the customer service ladies at xmas nor that I worked for them.... whilst we won the complaint as we had to agree to no financial compensation before appealing we were still skint).
In reality they did not want the house build. Despite having a healthy balance to start (only start) a build we were eventually left with £500... and when we eventually had the government inspector on the land, the chief planning officer said that he thought the build was a really good idea.... I have never been so close to assaulting someone in my life!
The Bronze Age burial ground sounds really interesting. Around our plot there is some history from the 11 century.... but thank god nothing was found... or I may be working away from home forever! x100
