Messed up at M&S. Printed out the Groupon confirmation instead of the voucher but I'm sure I'll get to use it another time. I'll wait until we have a conditional spend voucher in one of the weekend papers.

I bought some beautiful lilies for a friend ....normally £10 and only paid £10 in total....so it seemed like £15 of food free

Used 2 MyMail vouchers and the Sparks £5 off:)

Shop came to £25 exactly before vouchers:rotfl:

In other news after about 2 and a half days we finally completed Cvs, covering letters etc for job applications - I'd forgotten how long these things take - Errant son mostly but I was spell checker and grammar police and then Eldest child did the final once over so it was a huge joint effort.
Errant son has sent off 4 applications so we have made good progress.
And he has full templates now to work on for anything new coming along next week.
He is still working on an old fashioned application form which seemed to be asking for full details, dates etc for every single thing so that is what he is doing, a very full and complete form down to the very last detail - at least then he can save a copy if he needs to do another of these forms again

3 problems he is coming across - firstly the seasonal and summer jobs are all mixed up with full long term on the jobs website - he uses a specialist website - much fewer of the later so finding suitable things to apply for is not simple.

secondly a lot of places really want applicants who not only have all of the relevant vocational and practical qualifications but also teaching degrees - even though they don't want to pay a teachers salary :(

thirdly a lot mention occasional evening and weekend shift work which in reality will mean working 3 weekends out of 4 but the companies wont admit this - very sneaky - but you just have to apply knowing that weekends off will be very rare.

But he has applied for everything, just have to see what happens now.

In the meantime he has got 3 days work in a warehouse via an agency - rate of pay is £10 an hour but the agency take £2.50 off
I think it was agency work Eldest child did at one time but I cant remember how much they took off her wages
He is going 3 evening shifts finishing at 10 - at least that means he can deal with job applications in the morning
I think he is going to hate it as mostly he has worked out of doors and even at uni he was only doing 2 classroom based days - and even then uni classes were in a campus out in the sticks

by Friday afternoon having spent hours and days working on the job applications you could tell he was beyond fed up of being inside so he went out and took the angst out on the fire stick pile. Then he took the contents of the porch out and reorganised and cleaned it out, even though it was only done in February - very organised it is now. Then he sat outside and read for hours
But its only 3 days so if he really hates it, finds it really tedious then he will have to find an alternative after Easter.
Ive sent him the link for kibblestone summer 6 weeks again as it might fill the gap - after 3 days in a warehouse he will def think its the better option.

A question pretty please - what is the normal number of referees to ask for? Is it 2 or 3?

I thought it was 2 but maybe 3 is now normal? Or is this to prevent people applying for vacancies straight out of college or uni with no work experience?
