Does your OH not hear her in the night? I think if it was me I would be in the spare room and let her sleep in the room with him and he'll have to get up to deal with her during the night. You need your sleep.

We don't have a spare room Ellie so it's the sofa for me if I don't want to be wakened by the cat. He hears her too but always manages to get straight back to sleep xx

CJJ, does the cat have the run of the house on a night, or can it only get in one or 2 rooms?

I'm livid if I'm honest as he would rather see me sleep on sofa indefinately than see the cat have a bed in conservatory. Not the first time this issue has come up :,( xx

Do you think there is any reason for the change in her behaviour at night?

To be fair, I can see where he is coming from Cjj, sorry. I am probably daft, bu think animals are part of the family, and if it was a child waking people up, they would not get put in the conservatory. The other week when Rebecca was not well, I was all prepared to sleep on the sofa as she could not get up the stairs.
I also know that not everyone is like that, and am not saying who is right or wrong, just that I can understand why he let the cat out.

My dog is not allowed upstairs, however she does go upstairs when

    a. It is windy and she is scared
    b. There is a loud bang and she is scared
    c. Her extra sensitive hearing hears one of the boys getting up to no good with their girlfriends... she sits outside of the bedroom door!

When she is poorly or if we expect fireworks, either myself or OH stay down stairs with her to keep her snugged up. She is our baby x But I did think cats went outside during the night!

I think if the cat was ill or disturbed by something then yes I would put up with a night or two but if it is something that will be ongoing then I'm sorry it would be in the conservatory or outside. With children you cant put them in the conservatory but you can set the rules and train them to follow them, again if/when they are sick a night or two out of routine but it has to stop at some point.

would just locking him out of the bedroom improve things, or you could always try to pester him all day so he cant get any sleep and is knackered by bed time. :)
