As you say I think it is all above board but I will ask more questions.
And not be so trusting.
I will ask him that we are not the main driver, just 2nd and 3rd and that he is the principal driver- I don't think he would be that stupid.
Yes it does seem to be a lot of information but I suppose they have to be strict.
he is 25 this month so his premiums drop a bit anyway so why didn't he wait until March - this also makes me mad.
He had a perfectly serviceable car which we looked after for the time he was out of the country. Then he came back, got his new job, new place and sold the car, didn't bother telling us. I had paid his car insurance for him even so he had nothing to worry about. He had 2 years no claims but he changed to vans so now he has had to start again.
Yes I will ask for the name of the insurance company and the quote number, not sure if they will speak to me because of data protection but, as you say for my own peace of mind I do need to know this. Also if errant son refuses to give this info I do have cause for concern.
Regarding accidents, well he was driving last weekend so if anything has happened its happened this week. He did have a minor prang a few years back, not an insurance incident but he didn't even bother to tell us at the time.
I don't think any fraud is going on but I will still ask questions, probably get ignored again.braveheart60uk wrote: »I have a naturally suspicious mind, so I always look at thinks from all sides and then make my mind up. This gives me a few thoughts.
Please don't assume the worst, it is just my thoughts.
1/ It's all above board.
2/ Opposite side, it is suspicious. All that info for adding you as named drivers? Little devil on my shoulder says it's trying to make you principal driver or even sole driver. (insurance company would maybe catch this).
3/ The insurance company is needing all this information for very strict checks as they are offering a good deal.
4/ He has made a claim and his new premium quote is now sky high, so he is doing all he can to lower it by adding other drivers etc.
IF, a big if, you are made the main driver when you are not, the insurance would be voided I think.
I would ask him which company is asking for this information and ask for his quotation number and then phone the company yourself to ensure that all is above board. If I was VERY suspicious I would ask to see hard copies.
If anyone suspects fraud this is the ask the police site with Q&As and below that is a link they supply.

In all probability it is all above board.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

I was in Liverpool today then I went round Birkenhead shops , quite a good shopping centre there now, then Asda and Tesco in Wrexham. Went out about 9.30 and got back at 5.
We were there between about 11.30 and 3 or thereabouts, nothing very exciting, went to EE to try and discuss phone contracts but they were not playing ball, JL for coffee and carrot cake, sadly only one voucher between us, Pizza Express for lunch, Superdrug, various shops but no sales on, Marks and that was about it ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Hi M, if DS needs this info just for Insurance purposes it does seem a little excessive. DH & I have been named drivers on all three of our children's policies but have never had to supply driving licence numbers and certainly not NI numbers. It was cheaper for them to put us on as named drivers for the first couple of years but after that they took us off again as once they started to build up their no claims bonus it was costing them more to have us on the policies.
Is it possible that DS is just renewing his licence? My DS's licence needed renewing last week and that did ask for his NI number to confirm ID but that would not explain why he needed your NI numbers.
I am sure all will become clear eventually.
I am slightly unerved now, I am not sure what my gut instinct is telling me.
But I have messaged him with a series of questions - see if we get a response.
At home we have a multi car policy with Admiral which allows 5 cars. Eldest child has us as 2nd and 3rd named drivers as it made little difference to her premuims if we were taken off.
Eldest son has just himself - having us as 2nd and 3rd actually increased his premiums last time so we are now off
Both well over 25“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

We also have an errant child who only phones when something needs sorting. We also have an admiral multi-car policy. We are also going to be empty nesters soon, the "baby" only arrived home from uni in September, got a graduate job in December and him and GF are looking to rent a flat together shortly.
Anyone know what happens to a multi-car policy when one car moves out?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Good afternoon all.
I have a little question on eBay, as I can't find it on there.
If I sell something for £10 with free delivery, trying to work out the fees etc.
I'm thinking 10% for eBay = £9
10% for PayPal £8.90
Is that correct or have I got my figures wrong? Any advice would be very greatfull.
Thanks fernie
£10 - 10% = £1 eBay fee.
- 3.5% +20p = 55p PayPal fee
- postal cost, I normally send Signed for at £3.95.
- packaging my bags cost 13p each normally.
So it would cost me £5.63 if I sold something for £10.
Hth.
Evening peeps.
No chocolate for me today.....being good.curl girl with a space - even though there is no space in my cupboard!!!0
