I am not on Nextdoor myself but Mrs Anon is - it is worth noting that by default it shows your actual address, including house number, if I have understood correctly. While the whole idea is that you are in your neighbourhood, we thought that was a step too far and you can amend what is showing in your settings.

I've changed my address now to ???? road name so at least I am invisible and now I've got the area settings correct things look normal

I have just put a note on there warning people about that. So far do not like it one bit, will give it a while and see if they actually realise that we need a version like streetlife, not an Americanised degraded version of it.

    A question please.

Valentines day this year is on a Tuesday so I am assuming that the previous weekend is classed as valentines weekend - correct?

Who decides on these things anyway.

Valentines day 2018 is a Wednesday so which weekend will it be then?

I am thinking that it might be worth a punt booking a Valentines weekend 2018 weekend away and getting the normal over inflated weekend prizes rather than the vastly over inflated Valentines weekend prices - if you can figure out which one it is, the one before or the one afterwards.
I had a look at Hilton website and you can book a year ahead so in a weeks time it might be worth booking using a cancellable room rate ...
Some websites I think you can book 18 months ahead.

Its not always the valentines weekend that pushes the price up...don't forget to check the half term dates for schools...thats likely to have a big effect on prices.
Quite a few places I have looked at this year just block out the actual night of 14th.....I got a 2 night break away for christmas at a really good price and the exclusion is only not to be taken 14/2 and possibly mothers day.

Lots of schools are staggering their holidays nowadays so its likely that the expensive time may even span 2 or possibly 3 weeks in Feb so as to catch all out.
