Re the Valentines meal deals for £20 - well it depends on the contents really but they never seem to be really good value to me.

I've just been going through Groupon as there is a family birthday at the end of the month and I found a nice meal deal - 8oz steak in garlic butter, hand cut chips, tomatoes, mushrooms, salad, and either a glass of wine or a bottle of beer for 2.

I went through Quidco which has 25% off today - £15 and tracking already:T

For us I think mhoc...its tradition....a meal in.

I get that they arn't always the greatest value but going out on that night has never really been an option....
and lots of offers exclude 14th specifically.

I guess that could change this year as no dependants hanging around..but a tradition is a tradition.

plus I'm now thinking if we bunk in with you on your £16 groupon deal ....we may well need a hotel for the night too...budget well and truly blown!

Normally I plan to be stuck at M for the rush hour but, this time, I am stationed here at home. [EDIT: It's take me an hour to write this post, so, that's it, I can go back out now.]

In fact, I can't find the item I was going to quote from my list - did I remove the only item that M still has?:rotfl: This is just an interim report to say that

Birds Eye Vegetable Nuggets (16 per pack - 320g)

are (or were, if I have managed to buy the only bag that M still had anywhere across the entirety of its stores) 5p:D in M today.

I suspect that, sadly, this is not money-saving but, for the vast majority of people or maybe even for everybody, this will be a wasted journey. The 'downside' is that the pack is only BB the end of this month - but I will definitely use it all before that time.

This is obviously a little bit better than those 10p freezer items earlier - although aau1, probably very lucky, managed to find several of those. I did manage to find one of the 10p items - with store-specific stickered label that was at much higher price reduction but normal BC would have scanned at 10p - but sadly at a store too far away. At least, today, I've managed to have the veg. nuggets in a store that's nearer and able to get them home with spoilage. Is "spoilage" a word? If not, it is now!:D

It could be (but then anything could be) that the Bird's Eye Chicken Fingers - obviously not the pack size that 'everyone' has but the far more elusive 10 pack that went onto RTC months ago - could now be very cheap indeed if it is now available somewhere. So, maybe keep looking in your M for the RTC freezer items on the list as they could appear at any time. The Veg. Nuggets for instance - though, wrongly, not on my list as it seems I have deleted them:o:o - have just turned up in a store I have visited several times before with nothing in between. They were there at £1 RTC several months ago but long vanished - until today, when I spied a single pack at the back of the freezer, with no SEL of course, and, knowing that they had been on RTC, just wondered what price they now are. It turns out 5p:rotfl:. (No point telling you which store as I've bought the only pack I found - so they aren't there now, if they are even anywhere else at all.)

Did anyone notice I put Bird's Eye Light & Crunchy Breaded Chicken 4 pack onto the list at the weekend? I happened to visit M because I needed something then and just saw it - I'm yet to have stock but I've found the SEL (twice now, without stock:() at £1. This is not the 5 pack that lots of stores will have; it's a (seemingly) rare 4 pack on RTC. I may as well put the BBQ version of 4 pack at 81p back onto the main list, that is currently on the 'lost list', given that I have found Veg. Nuggets as surely the BBQ Chargrills will now be in some M somewhere all these months later. Very rare. I that I haven't seen anything at all for at least six months:rotfl:. It's just the odd lost item of stock that gets found and put out somewhere months later.

I did (what was supposed to be) the full collection yesterday - still finding items today that may have only gone on offer today but whoever can tell? - since it's while since I last did this exercise there is just too much to mention.

But, now that I have managed to find stock:mad::rotfl:, the Jacob's caddies are, at last, at their rightful 50p price that they ought to have been at long ago. (The KP drums of nuts seem to have increased in price btw - I think we had them at £1 RTC about a month ago - if so they have gone from £1 RTC to £2 RTC - so, they're even less attractive for me to consider buying them now on their "reduced" £2 price. That's supposed to have been £3 before, so, allegedly, they've been £3 - perhaps they went up to that to go back down to twice as much cost as before but I've no idea.) As to the Jacob's, I've made do with the Twiglets from the A trigger glitch as it took forever waiting for M and I think A worked out a bit cheaper - so, thank you to the two people that found that:T. I wanted the Cheeselets, and then remembered I also wanted the Mini Cheddars:doh:. Yesterday I ended up being stuck with a load of Pigs in Blankets that no-one wants and no other stock at all! I just knew this would happen as soon as they were 50p:mad::mad::p:rotfl:. However, at least, today, I have managed to have the Cheeselets: very low in stock in my store though - helpfully without a SEL specific to them, although that's not essential as I have found them in more stock in a couple of further stores. I got my Cheeselets but had no Mini Cheddars (didn't even think about them at the time:rotfl: - so, it's just getting me to spend more money when I later find them:() - then I ended up with a store that had Mini Cheddars, reminding me of what I wanted to buy that I was never going to buy:rotfl::rotfl:, but they were all damaged so you could see why no-one has bought them:(:(. I then happened to visit a store that had a single carton of Mini Cheddars on the shelf:D, so I've taken that store OOS on the shelf at the moment - although I have found a lot of stock, of all versions, in one other store later.

So, I think it's just going to be pot luck as to what is in your M, if anything, and the more Ms you have, the more likely you may find them but will then need to factor in travelling costs. Or maybe you're not more likely to find them with more stores - I had seven stores yesterday (did an extra one as there was time remaining) and ended up with the starting position of a load of unwanted Pigs in Blankets and nothing else:mad::mad:. Today, every (different) store I have seems to have something:rotfl:. Just pot luck. I am "back at base" now, half way through today's set of stores, as I had more items to find that were never going to be in the stores set yesterday.

So, you can work this either way - you can go to M now and just see what you can find, as there are some good RTCs on (and other items have gone the other way and gone up in price), as it will take some time for me to get the information onto the list (and it's not going to happen today). There are other items on though, that are not obvious in some stores so maybe wait to see what I put onto the list.

(I think what I can usefully do - if I remember it and I'm probably forgetting about something now - is mention some areas - the frozen food Christmas items, such as cocktail sausages, cheese straws, chicken dippers, prawns etc. have now gone onto cheaper RTCs than before - can't mention the items as can't remember them all offhand - M's own Southern Fried Wedges 750g and Onion Rings at 50p (if my memory serves me) - there are more and I have uselessly ended up with a store with incorrect prices on some that I don't have elsewhere - I think there is some Prawn thing at £1 (I have the exact details, will update them to the list whenever I get to them) that I have a SEL of £1.50 for - that has been scanned - but I think M Pigs in Blankets 300g (frozen) are probably now £1 instead of the £1.50 SEL I have, but unable to check as I have no stock. I suspect they will really be cheaper than the price showing to me and the hazelnut profiteroles (is there another version again somewhere else?) have also gone to £1 now.

There's those, and there's also some Free From items at 20p. Some Cookies pack (if you're lucky enough to have the one unit of stock I had - sorry to whoever's store is that) and also some Pink Panther wafers and other items too. Someone else has done the same to me though, buying the last item of stock on the shelf in the store, on the wafers as I'm not able to find any store yet that has stock:( - oh well, I save 20p:rotfl:. Somebody's got them in their M.

I think those are two main areas perhaps to look at - there's also Fox's Fabulously biscuits 600g at £1.50 and 500g or 500g-odd packs of Cadbury Heroes, Quality Street and Celebrations etc. at £2. M's Mega sweets tin has also now gone done lower - so, again the Christmas legacy items - and have the Swizzels tins gone down lower than £2.50 now? I don't have those anymore as there was only one store remaining for me several weeks ago, with them, I've not gone back but not anywhere for me up to now.)

There is a lot of information to update. It may be pointless anyway as all the information may well not be updated until next week again (by which time some of it may be out of date) and I don't know how I'm going to visit many Ms and keep track of all this lot next week - it may be that, from here on in, I will go out every three weeks or so and provide interim updates to the list and be as up-to-date as I can be around those times. The new style SELs are also making it difficult to work out when offers are now supposed to end (this was the 'technical issue' I alluded to some weeks ago), so I don't know which stores I'm supposed to be doing each week for whatever is ending on offer - I don't know when big changeovers are now. Hopefully I am getting correct prices but the new SELs are making it difficult to tell - I'm not seeing major differences between my stores today though that are contradicting the results, which will be revealed later, that I got yesterday, and I've determined some items by scanning, as well as my knowledge of what was on (and may therefore have come off) and what was not on (and may now be on). If I don't keep doing every week, you'll get a list but will just need to check msm/m.com for anything you want to see it is still, allegedly, up-to-date.

You just can't rely on anything working though, as the price collection stores may overall have incorrect SELs and pick up full price on something that is still (just about) on offer - offer due to end soon can (though it's rare) be a difficulty due to stores changing their SELs too soon and those only just gone on can sometimes take a while to make it through to the SELs. And some stores just seem to have incorrect price on a small number of items for months on end:rotfl: - it's obviously just what they missed though and haven't got round to. The staff are, I think, doing their best but they're not able to catch up and it seems there may have been fewer staff in the SEL-changing ares straight after Christmas as I had real problems trying to work out the correct prices in the period just after! On a very significant number of items, I had half my stores with the offer price (no end-date now sadly on many SELs:() and half my stores with full price. I could have gone any way on any of them but hopefully went the correct way - it seemed like nearly every item that had been on offer was now half and half. The problem is, for items that have been on offer but are no longer, staff in half the Ms have not reached changing the SEL. And for items that were full price and are now on offer, half the Ms have not yet reached putting the offer SEL up. As a lot of the items I have will have been on offer or be items that are going onto offer, it's particularly the items I am looking at that the problem affects.

This was a problem on the last time several weeks ago. As I say, I ended up with roughly half and half on what seemed like almost every item. I made my own conclusions, based on what had been on and what had not, but was never sure what price anything really was:rotfl:. I went to other Ms on the following day though to see if they confirmed the general impression I had got. So, that's how I actually managed to do the list:rotfl::rotfl:. Hopefully the prices are correct - though there are incorrect prices in every M (it seemed like a lot a few weeks ago, half the stores, and a different half on different items) and I don't know if that situation has really improved as, sometimes, on rare occasions, I see prices that have remained unchanged in one store for several months but have in fact changed as informed by generally elsewhere.
