I am considering joining another thread.....
The one about not buying unnecessary toiletries and I assume using up what you have....
or I could try and persuade a few on here to just join me in declaring what we get in and what we use up....
I'm not good at joining in with those I don't know ...but again I guess everyone has to be the newbie sometime, but they do seem to have serious stashes of beauty bits over there....sadly as do I!!!!
I have been keeping a little log of what has left this month and what I have gained and so far its 10 out and 5 new things in...although this figure of 10 does include a couple of things that were one squirt and they were gone...the 5 in however are full sized products to test.
I am far too embarrassed to actually list all the products I am in possession of ...it literally runs into the hundreds and they need either using up or possibly even ditching because of age.
I have on the positive side not actually bought any toiletries of any sort this month.
LEJC I don't really buy toiletries but have "purchased" shampoo which will find its way into gift hampers or the foodbank
I bought some Dove and Nivea when I joined here just over 3 years ago It was such a novelty to get it for pennies
Now I need very little
I chucked samples when Kondo'ing as the space was more valuable than the product
Good luck0 -

That's when my large collection of hotel toiletries went the way of the dodo too.

The thing is....there are very few hotel toiletries in the stash....a few but it is mostly product testing and the soap and glory leftovers from boots 75% sales of days gone by.
I genuinely have not bought a face cream, serum or any other type of body lotion or pampering thing at full price for several years...so there have been many hundreds of pounds saved thanks to the likes of product testing and more recently product reviewing.
It is my intention to reduce the stash much further this year...hopefully my face will be smooth and wrinkle free as a result so will thank me in the long run.
I guess I am no longer so obsessed with the beauty industry....but I may have now moved on to candles....oops theres quite a collection of those that is starting to reveal itself after the january sales!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
I think I mentioned this was £5 in my Boots couple of weeks ago but I may have forgotten.
It was in my mine week before the 70% sale, but looks like other stores may be behind in reducing it so keep any eye out.

I lurk on this thread
KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up
I know some Elite are across there as well, never had the courage to post anything though. It does spur me on though to keep plodding away - this morning I tackled a pile of mags on the study sofa which I though was mainly Mr !!!!!! mags - they were but not the last one - mainly October edition so they could have been recycled before Christmas and would not have shamed me, cluttering up the sofa whilst various visitors have passed through.
I then got under 3 box files out which have sat under the desk forever. One had some old competition stuff from the glory days of writing slogans. I am going to be ruthless, keep the booklets for nostalgia but all the old print off sheets of winning slogans will go into recycling - without me reading through them or looking for old names I know - the slogan writing days have gone so its no use in harking back ...
The 2 others seem to have all the instruction booklets from all the electrical appliances and household goods we have bought going back about 25 years or more
So that's tonight's entertainment persuading OH to help me go through these, picking out anything still in use but I am hoping that at least 90% will go into the recycling.
As for toiletries - I used to read the thread over there, not sure what is was called though but some of those ladies seemed to have quite an obsessive streak - they listed every single toiletry they had - I think it would take me forever to do this.
Most of my stash is in the bedroom chest of drawers - yes 3 big drawers and 2 small ones but its all of my very special good quality stuff. Plus 2 sets of Ikea mini drawers for small bits and pieces.
My toiletry stash is def a reaction to childhood poverty. My sister has complete sets of shower gels in all colours lined up in her bathroom so its not just me.
I am starting to put some everyday things into the food bank trolley.
All I've bought this month are 2 of the St Tropez mini toiletry bags which superdrug had for 49p each early in the month and also the Lidl perfume for £3.99 which wasn't the one I really liked so it might end up as bathroom perfume. And hair dye which was £2 in superdrug and paid for with points.
So Ive def used up and disposed of more than has come in this month.
When I was clearly my M-I-Ls house I collected all of the useable and almost unused toiletries, all high quality brands from the bathroom cabinet and boxed them and put a message on Freecycle and some ladies came to collect it. Amazing sometimes what can be passed along
As for being chosen to test products - the lovely people over the border don't seem to love me any more, all I've had since the summer was botty wipes. But I was chosen for haircare recently which was inevitable with the Boots points offer
So with nothing to test I am starting to work my way through my stashes and I have become quite ruthless in disposing of anything that does not smell right, sit nicely on the skin or live up to the claims on the box“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
