Not far at all. About a five-minute cab ride away. There is a taxi rank there but it isn't a very busy station so may not be taxis there all the time. They probably only meet the London trains. There is a taxi phone at the station I think but I can recommend Hedge End cabs if you want to book one in advance. 01489 788955 (They may even be the ones at the station!)
Thank you. Dont tell me I could have got a train direct from LondonI have just booked from Waterloo to Winchester, and then Winchester to there.
oh Dave...I've just remembered it's you thats off to Borough Market...thats perhaps my all time ever favourite place...and whilst the stall is no longer there...it used to be the place to get the best chocolate brownie in the world.
If you are passing through perhaps you could get me a few bits..
Theres a lovely stall that does seasoning for food ...a pot of the jamacian jerk if you could...
Then theres another that does fabulous cheesecakes ...so a few slices of those..i'll leave the choice up to you.
umm...another does rather tasty smoothies and pressed fruit juices....I normally have one whilst I'm wandering to the cider stall....where I usually pick up a few bottles and then
Off to the paella or possibly the wild boar stand for something to eat..
I really miss the place....“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I think the brownie stall used to be called "flour power" or something similar..near the entrance opposite the old robot estate chocolate shop....I know they left the market because of some internal politics with the market and possibly moved markets but that was around the time that my weekend placements finished....I've never found another chocolate brownie quite so good....cue PD ....I bet she can tell us where to get the best ones...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Sarahdol75 wrote: »Hi mhoc, yes it was a direct train to Porthmadog, apparently there was a stop somewhere, where the train split and it went off somewhere else, I just made sure that they asked if they were on the right part of the train, had visions last night of him ringing saying they had ended up somewhere completely different.
The train ends are quite confusing for newbies, When it leaves Birmingham they tell Aberystwyth travellers to sit in front 2 coaches, and Pwllheli in back 2....
But...
When it gets to Shrewsbury it goes in & then back out the way the route it came in on so the front 2 are then the back 2...
So most of my journey is watching travellers lugging everything to opposite ends of train after ticket man has told them they are in wrong part:o
Then the train divides at Machynlleth but there is a 10 minute wait so anyone not in right part can still switch..
Then they should be sat on left hand side (right side coming back) for the stunning views of the sea, Barmouth Bridge, Portmeirion, sweeping bays. Plus the train is right up to the 'edge' so sheer cliff drops to the sea :eek:Our Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...

there is a travelodge code on the correct thread but it would not work for me the other day but I quite fancy revisiting this end of the world“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. yes I had a look at possible trains from our side of the country but it looked better to stop at Eastleigh and get a Hedge End train across - no idea how frequent though trains do this - better than going into Southampton Central and back out again
it won't be long before you set sail again“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
it will all be fine, all 16 year old lads need is electricity to charge their various phones and laptops and tablets and ideally wi fi and toilet paper
I assume you have imposed a total alchol ban and hidden your stash
Definitely got electricity and one lad panicked yesterday morning as he didnt think he had his charger, so emptied his bag to search :rotfl::rotfl:
Toilet rolls definitely stocked up :rotfl::rotfl:
We did actually leave them some bottled beer, as my DS has a few friends there over the age of 18 that would get them beer anyway, so we thought if we left them some they wouldnt go too mad, hopefully.

OMG, snap, musical chairs, so glad it wasnt me on the train I would have panicked, he never said that they had to move around so hopefully he was in the right place all the way. Dont think boys are that bothered about the views though :rotfl::rotfl:
Have heard from him this morning, they had gone crabbing.0 -
