    :)

Oh the joy of living behind the Savages - 4.30am full scale argument with every swear word repeated 16 times. The amount of times she has told Mr Savage (10 years her junior) to leave, I just want to shout across & encourage him to go.
His life would be instantly transformed & he would start skipping to the dole office ;)

I'm off to shut down and restart my computer...in the hope that it resets MSE for me and I can at least get a thanks button back.

LEJC, if you need to have a sad day or a duvet day or whatever kind of day suits you, then do it. Sometimes I think it's better to have a chance to give into it, accept it and then move forwards, rather than carry on forcing ourselves to pretend.

Enterprise, I'm after some advice please. Our phone line won't work, and possibly hasn't since we switched from talk talk to plus net a few months ago (I assumed people had just stopped calling :o)

We have fibre broadband but no dialling tone and can't make or receive calls. I've replaced the handset but no joy so I'm guessing it's the line. Is there anything simple to try, before spending money on getting someone out?

Thanks mhoc...I'm not even sure I could put it all down in words,I guess it's a culmination of the differences between this year and last...I've been doing so well...but every now and again the mask slips.

Onwards and upwards I must not dwell...neither must you lot...that's why I only asked for one person to lift me up!

that's exactly it - you get in such a state that you cant even put into words the mess that is going around and around in your head.
I am doing a swan - paddling away nicely on top but underneath is another matter. I've ended up with a nervous twitch eye for the last week now and its my eye with the good sight so I cant even put a pirate patch over it so its driving me bats ...

who do you pay your line rental to?

It happened to us earlier in the year and we had to ring sky who we pay line rental to. Calls could ring in but not connect when we picked up. At the time we had ordinary broadband so it also brought the speed down to almost nothing.
I had to switch everything to the mobile number and that's what we use for everything now
6 weeks of repeated calls to sky later and finally a BT engineer arrived, tested everything and then went to our side of the road box and fixed it and we were up and running 20 mins later - we got no compensation from sky for loss of service
