We are going to have woodburners as well, so the non compliant wood will go on there.

Thanks matty....but I bought one today in S.

I added S butter to mycoupons for 60 points. Went in and bought it first in the hope I would get a tillspit...it's the most money I've spent all week:rotfl:

No tillspit. So just bought the iron ......a Tefal. Got the thing home and discovered it's totally impossible to see how much water you are adding. The instructions clearly say don't overfill and there's a maximum line but the plastic is opaque and you just can't see how much you are adding. The filler jug doesn't have any measurements on it. It's so frustrating. We've had lights on, torch, mobile phone light....honestly....it's driven me to distraction. DD has 20/20 vision and she says it's impossible.
    I must be missing something:o

VT and naebbirrac....on tour:T....I need to read back:)

Can't you take it back and say it is not fit for purpose? I now tend to buy this sort of thing from Costco. The last time I needed an iron I got it from there and just didn't get on with it at all. After struggling for a while I took it back and explained that it just didn't work for me and the way the steam pumped out when I put it on the iron-rest meant it was damaging the ironing board. No hassles and I bought another one from them with which I have been very happy.

I could not find the cheese in 2 A's I tried today. They had the 800grm packs but not the 1kg. So might not be all stores

My store only has the 800g ones too. Was in the Trafford Park store this morning (popped in while passing for Christmas cards but they had none) and forgot to check the cheese.

Anyone got an opinion on the tefal actifry please Dawn would like one for her birthday lol.

Several people say that the Actifry breaks up fish fillets because of its paddle. It also has a huge footprint. Both those comments stopped me buying one. Instead I bought this, when it was on offer for £40, I confess. I got a lot of encouragement from this thread to get it and have never regretted it. If it broke, I'd get another of the same type of air fryer. My brother has one which has a halogen heating source inside and I don't like that either. This cooks stuff very quickly, though I've never done chips from scratch, just the frozen ones.

I found the £1.00 cheese yesterday in a very large store with an upstairs. Watch the date as mine was only dated Feb. Mind you that didn't stop me from getting 10 blocks, for a total of 4p using wombles ;)
    Thanks to whoever first posted.

I bought an Actifry when points were on double-up in Tesco.
Don't really rate it. Takes about 40 mins to cook chips and they are nothing like real chips. Have only used it about 3 times in 2 years and is just wasting a lot of work space.

Has anyone heard of or used Servicingstop?
Its a link on the Council MOT Testing website. There is a 70% discount for January. Collect and return your car and will apparently do a full service on my car for £70 http://www.servicingstop.co.uk/how_it_works.html

Still spending most of my time looking after Mum, she is making very slow progress.

My mystery whites from T have arrived...
mixed bag really....the first case is better overall with a good mix of wines and a total price of £98.90.Several bottles in the £12 price range and thankfully none dented or worthy of being called spirits!!!

the second box has a few howlers in...some piesporter, blossom hill and 2 half bottles which is little bit disappointing but at least there is alcohol content so its not really fair for me to go back and say they have not delivered what was in essence advertised.(the 2 half bottles when combined equal a bottle worth £10)

There is one very nice bottle worth £20 so that clearly was the star of the case and the total comes in at £76.65

so combined the total is £175.55 so happy with that overall on a £92 spend.

In may be too soon to say that the quality is improving, but these 2 cases are certainly better than the ropey stuff I have received on at least the last 3 occasions that have resulted in calling CS and getting refunds whilst also throwing 4 or 5 bottles down the sink.

Wish I had ordered the fizzy too....but in fairness that wasn't available when I ordered on Friday,it only appeared yesterday I think....so heres hoping DM will post his results of his haul when it arrives
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend
  • Having seen DD's in action, I decided I didn't like either the Actifry or the Halogen oven.

Having said that, it was a few years ago, don't know what they are like these days. But I noticed they never actually looked properly clean after the first few uses (though that might well be down to the owners!) Also they took up loads of room, and didn't look attractive either in use or in storage.

Since her new kitchen was fitted, she uses neither, I think she's thrown them out...
