    Good morning all...

I hope we all made it through christmas and spent it all as we wanted and wished it to be.

Ours was reflective, but lovely in a nice way...I'm glad it's over but it was the christmas that was always going to be difficult and it does feel as if we have inched forward in a positive way without forgetting the past.
I was so sad to hear of George Michael's passing....my teenage years were the drama's to his musical soundtrack, and over far too soon.

Off for a read back over the last few days ....but in answer to the favourite glitches of the year...I think mine has to be the M ham...simply because it came at a time when I had lost the motivation and it sparked the interest to get back to the glitch!...earlier in the year I managed a large amount of WUL at A for 20p a bottle ....that was welcome ...but there is something about a glitch rather than a reduction that makes it all rather exciting in an elite way.

Have a lovely day all....I'm off to M&S later,as I've cracked final reduction time at my local food hall....the freezer is looking good going into the new year.
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend

The other good use of spreadsheets - an inventory of your household electricals (there is a template in Word 2013 "Home inventory.")

I have started to capture all electricals and will see how we get on with adding other items (book collection, for example) - there has been a speight of burglaries in our area and it prompted me to think about what happens if we are hit, partiuclarly as insurance is due again next month. Although I can list items from memory, it is surprising how many items you have when you list them.

The template includes columns for serial numbers, value etc.

Whether I keep it up is another thing, but we have "a few" iPads, iPhones, iPods, tablets, computers, TVs and other items.

Little Anon asked how do you prove you owned it, if the house burned down - good question, how do you? We genuinely have a lot of stuff but wouldn't have receipts for all (particularly if the house burned down!). We would probably have for the electricals but books, toys, clothes etc?

Having dealt with insurance claims in a former working life, photos showing items in situ are always helpful to prove ownership. Loss adjusters are generally looking for evidence of a lifestyle.

I take photos of my stuff in my house which is proof you own it. I also keep all records and photos in a cloud and external hard drive , so if I lose everything including laptop my records are easy accessible
Its a boring job taking pictures of everything so I turned it into a game and got my friends children running around with cameras and taking photos of anything and everthing, its surprising how the little ones got into spaces I have forgotton :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
They really enjoyed it and we enjoyed going through the pictures afterwards

Also for anyone still going through their accounts and making sure everything is in order - so far I've found 2 standing orders that needed the dates altering ..

If you are in need of a regular saver to put away up to £250 per month then Leeds have a Regular saver issue 4 paying 2.30% gross including the annual bonus.
So over a year if you put in the full £250 per month your annual interest would be a pitiful £37.48 :(
But if you think of it as having £3037.48 at the end of December 2018 to cover the Christmas credit card bills, pay off the holiday balance, add to the ISA fund ...

    http://www.leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk/savings/access-accounts/

They also have a selection of old fashioned bonds including a 15 month one paying 1.30% gross - that would take you up to March 2018 which might be of use for ISA forward planning or if you have ISAs/bonds etc maturing etc

    http://www.leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk/savings/bonds/

and good enough ISA rates for 1 and 2 year accounts

    http://www.leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk/savings/isa-tax-free-accounts/

I started an regular saver in March this year, very easy, all done online and I am still getting the full 3.05% including bonus rates. So far I've got a mind blowing £17 in interest. I should really take the plunge and buy some premium bonds, at least there is an element of fun in having these
