    Effect, as a verb, is to make something happen, eg to effect a cure. To affect something is to change it a bit, eg T reductions affect the amount of the APG.

    I think!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    It's those price cuts again, they don't always help us if they're in the store we're shopping in!

    I always found the easiest way to remember was that a is before e so I/you/he/she/it/we/they all affect something and then that action causes an effect. If you need to put words like the, any, no, negative or positive before it then you're talking about the effect(s).

    No idea if that's of any help at this time of night, but I was a language student so it's an area of interest for me :o

    Thank you for trying to explain this, but it really is something that I just cannot understand!

    I've only managed to find one butcher on small shops, a farm shop not too far away. I went there this morning intending to buy sirloin steak but it had an unwrapped chicken next to it (touching) in the chiller. That can't be right? I didn't buy it.
    Fish and chips tonight. Cheeky wotnot added a 20p charge because I paid with a card.
    Lots of ethnic supermarket type places on my list so if I have some spare time during the week I'll follow juju's lead and see if they have any 2 for £10 wine offers :T
    Totally absorbed by Strictly tonight. I want them all to win.

    That doormat has its uses though: "Scare off unwanted guests" they say. Hooray!:j:j That's exactly what I want to do!:T:D "For private use only":(:rotfl:. Mind you, at my workplace, where we all know each other very well, they might all be okay with that!

    "...[W]e don't recommend using if your neighbours have young children!" Oh, so it's alright if the children are our own then!:rotfl: "Suitable for +18". Therefore, not suitable for 15, 16 and 17 years old despite the fact that our inconsistent and illogical society permits them to hear the very same thing in films?:huh: (I think I'll ignore the 'suitability' warning as it's therefore a clear lie:rotfl::rotfl:. Nonetheless I am having a joke - but picking up, yet again, on the careless wording of the (I assume) non-autistic people in our society!:rotfl:)

    I think I will can this doormat idea. Just get a piece of paper, a pen, write on it and stick it to your living room door - will do the same thing!:money::rotfl:

    My amex card I registered on the amex website, but our amex cards issued via LLoyds we had to register on the amex connect website....dont know if that is the same for MBNA, but might be worth a look if you have not already looked there.

    Thanks, but I would rather poke my eyes out.

    OH is football mad, he is like an old record player. I have had all sorts of explanations but it is gobbledygook.

    Although I cannot understand the effect/affect rules, I write reports for a living... and managed to blag it so far! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
