I had a dreadful nights sleep last night, no idea whatsoever why - I must have got some sleep between about 3 and 6 - I was wide awake when OHs alarm went off.

Dentists this afternoon and in the meantime numerous parcels are due so no giving in to mid morning slumps on the sofa ...

This is the response I got from Amex this morning

To start the day off a message from Amex - nice reward for a few mins writing a message - the search is now on for more places that should not be on the list

"I apologise for the inconvenience caused to you.

You will be glad to know that I have immediately gone ahead and have applied the credit of £5 on your Card as a gesture of goodwill. The credit will appear on your account within 2-3 working days.

I assure you that all merchant that we have listed for you on the map agreed to participate in the campaign. I am sorry to learn that ******* is still updated on the map.

I have also updated our Marketing team, informing them about your current experience. We will take all measures to contact the merchant to resolve the situation so that you do not face any issues going forward.

It is always a pleasure to assist a valuable Card Member in the best way I can. Kindly let me know if I can be of any other assistance.

Regarding Amex I finally got my £5 credit yesterday from the Post office spend last Thursday so all is right with the world again - I think we need to be more patient

Also regarding the Amex shop small promotion - not enough time to do any today but its dental check up day tomorrow so maybe ...

On my list of potential places to visit was a restaurant bar in a nearby town even though the place shut for business in the summer. So at the weekend I noticed it was still listed and I finally got around to sending Amex a message today to say the place was shut - its a bit of a cheek but I am hoping that they will credit me with £5 anyway

Then I checked twitter and a local twitter feed had followed me. I checked their recent tweets which in included something from the local paper. It turns out that the closed venue has been bought by another local chain and it will re open on Friday under a new name!

So it will be interesting to see what response I get from Amex!

so in theory if you use any local business this week and your spend is £10 and over it might be worth using your Amex rather than the normal credit card as a justincase????

Its quite possible that new small businesses have opened and the list not been updated ...
