    Afternoon one and all

    A word of caution about returning items to Marks although it may just be my Marks being overly difficult - fortunately I don't have to go to the nearest one more than once or twice a year.

    I was returning a toiletry bag and 2 dresses and asked for a credit note as per usual. A supervisor was called over and she made a very careful examination of the items. She asked when and where I made my purchase and if I paid with a card or with cash.

    She said that if I did not have a receipt the purchase could be traced. I am not even sure if this is possible - to ring a store and read out the product code and see if an item was purchased on a certain date and what the person used to pay for. And can you imagine the chaos after Christmas as people try to exchange or return excess gifts or unwanted items if they did this with everyone without a receipt ...

    So she very graciously allowed me to have my credit note but she said Marks were cracking down.

    As I said it could just be my small Marks being difficult.

    I have dealt with all sorts of she-devils on CS desks and on tills in the olden days of MOC usage so I was not flummoxed by it, just stood my ground.
    And I have my credit note which is the main thing
