A much better buy for chocaholics would be the packs of 9 Mars bars for 1.25.
:rotfl: Amazing isn't it that people buy small sachets or packets of things or items just because they are brands or because of the way they are packaged? It's the same with biscuit tins, that 'everybody' buys (and :doh:I've already done the same myself this year) even though buying an ordinary pack of everyday biscuits would be cheaper. It's a very good way indeed for the retailers and manufacturers to give us less product and make more money from us by doing so - there must be some consumer psychology research into it because they know that, offer people a small tin of something and label it with Christmas, people will buy it in droves and irrationally ignore (then again, it is subjective emotional appeal and not objective) the very same type of food available in much greater quantity for cheaper cost.
I don't know why I got caught by those Vinnie biscuits tins at M a few weeks ago:o - I bought one at £1.50:eek:- I think the SS coming up with £3 and then taking off a £1.50 'discount' made it seem better, when in fact £1.50 is the most expensive price I would pay - only for me then to discover :(another version at Poundstretcher at £1 - and for more weight - would have been better - and even that still more expensive than just buying packs of regular biscuits. Of course it may be a different situation if some of the tins go onto real cheap clearance prices - but only after Christmas.
I've not bothered with M today. I got everything prepared last night and was ready to go but then decided I just couldn't be bothered - I suspect that twice a week, every week, just becomes too much sometimes. On this occasion, it was too much. A bit like my Vinnie tins cost:rotfl:. I don't think much will have changed in M - in fact, I've had to go to M anyway:((:rotfl:):wall: to get an essential everyday item (well, not everyday but we buy it at least twice a week - some bread) that of course I planned for us to run out today as I thought as I going to go to M. So, I still needed to go but haven't checked much and wasn't doing the run of six stores. I think the (chilled) Cadbury's hot chocolate sponge was due to be off and I also expected the Advent Calendars - the three that M had on £1 offer - to be off today too: however I still have the hoarding for those up outside my store but I haven't seen the SELs so I don't know. Does anyone else want to do today's collection?:rotfl:
I did see other stuff in M whilst I was there of course (how could I avoid seeing what is in front of my eyes?) and, of what I saw, I saw nothing that had changed. There will be something though - I've never had an occasion yet when there was no change at all between one day and the next. So, it seems mostly the same as I already have from last Wednesday, but there may be the odd one to catch you out. I will be a total loss and feel completely out of the loop for two days now:rotfl:! I am keeping Wednesday on as normal and just thought it was more convenient to do my six stores on that day - particularly as I didn't have any other set planned for a second day this week. I saw the Unwashed Potatoes (12.5Kg) which I suspect generally continue at full price £4 (there may be short-date stock in some M or another available at cheaper price), although I don't know whether they are still £4 as the one store I had didn't display me a SEL:rotfl:. Anyway, just the one M and not seen much - no prices taken other than I just saw things that were unchanged and not done the full six store run so saved on not doing the travelling for one day:money:. It's a cost-cutting exercise really you see;) - it's obviously saved me money, and time, by not doing the collection day. I did think of that as one tipping factor, after I'd already thought I couldn't bothered today. It just made more sense to do just the one day this week, so that'll be Wednesday. (I think last Wednesday was largely just going through multiple stores in order to get the same prices for items that I'd already got two days before, with items missing from earlier stores. Although I did get the additional reduction items that I didn't have before, so it was not a waste - and had I stuck to my local stores, including the one just now, I wouldn't have had the Monkey Nuts at all - very lucky I think if you find the big bags like I did - so I managed only to get those by using the stores I did and going out last week:T. I found the Monkey Nuts last year in a different store that I just happened to go to - not one of my regulars, although it was somewhat closer to than the one I found them at this time - I suspect they are likely not to be at the store I bought them at last year but I don't need to go out there to check anyway as I have bought them so no need. Both of them are smaller stores but that's just haphazard: they'll be wherever they happened not to sell out of before. EDIT: Last year's Monkey Nuts: 16 miles away from me, sort of regular local collection stores distance of some of them. This year's: 59 miles:(:rotfl:.)0
