DH and I bought ill fitting clothing at M&S at the weekend with our £25 vouchers for opening their credit card. I took them back today, and got a refund (is a credit on a till slip) which is valid for a year.

Cheap and cheerful Skipton or Ilkley hotel recommendations?

There is a pub in the middle of town (Skipton) with a lovely real fire in the bar, and half decent meals. I will try to get the name of it later. I stayed there a few years ago and it was okay.

Yes, one per shop per card.

  • Had a look at the £1 selection boxes in T, they'd be OK for little ones as the items are mostly treat-size. They were flying out, people buying them by the boxload.

A much better buy for chocaholics would be the packs of 9 Mars bars for 1.25.

OH went back to work today only to find that IT have changed the password yet again so he could not get into the works site on his laptop.

So He rung IT to ask them to rest password for him but IT get uppidy and refuse to reset. They said he has a 10 digit security code - most people have trouble with 4 numbers never mind ten.

He asked where he might find this 10 digit code and they replied on his payslip. We still get our payslips sent in the post and they come in, get checked and filed and not looked at again. I am filing clark in this household. OH never sees his payslips - I've always been the family accountant - I expect its the same in many households, the division of labour.
OH could never cope anyway with opening, checking and filing his payslips.

I expect this is normal now, that most firms change their passwords regularly and that the employers have a 10 digit code to get onto their laptops - I will have to check this with eldest child to see if its the same with hers.

I suppose some people always have a payslip in their bags but if it comes in the post there wont be many.

The company is trying to go over to online wage slips, this is a new thing but OH has not signed up yet. If you sign up you have to log onto your company laptop with the password and your 10 number security code - so this is a bit of a circular problem because without one you cant access the other :(

Do you ever wonder if your OH is loosing the plot or at least it seems so - I expect the world of work is so mentally, physiologically and physically demanding that they are totally drained when they get home and a pale washed out shell of their former selves.

This is the mad conversation we have just had. OH is filling in his blood donation forms - you have to complete them yourself, no one else can do it for you.

This is the mad conversation we have just had

OH - It says here "have you been abroad since your last donation"

Me - yes we have, we came back, 2 days ago on Friday

    OH - OK

Me - Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar

OH - OK, so I will write France, Spain and Gibraltar

I say nothing and let him get on with it :rotfl:
