Our Mr T has an area at the back of the tills where the local food bank and other collection points are and I noticed yesterday that there is a new one, someone has had the idea of Christmas shoe box type "comfort boxes" for local homeless.

I went again today and fortunately it has been tidied up and looks less messy. There is a sign which suggests various items that might be included eg warm socks and gloves, toiletries and Christmas treats etc.
But some people have not quite got the right idea yet as there was some canned food in the box as well, perhaps its not obvious that someone who does not have a place to sleep also does not have access to cooking facilities - all well and good if the cans were for food things you could eat cold straight out of a tin but there was things like canned chicken curry :(
Also can you imagine going to the hostel and being given a Christmas comfort box and opening it up to find a can of peas inside :(
So I very discreetly moved the cans into the food bank trolley and put all of my u&g cartons in the collection box instead, OK still not totally suitable but at least they are square and small and will fit neatly in a shoe box and can be drunk as and when.
I did start to sort out some mens toiletries last night and I found a lot of disposable razors (bought as fillers from Asda) but all of the mens toiletries I found from my stash looked a bit suspect. A lot will just have to be culled altogether but there must be something suitable amongst the main mens toiletry stash upstairs. It looks like another big sorting out job this week.

The study looks like a warehouse, full of various piles of stuff in various stages of being sorted out - books for Oxfam, charity shoe bags, Freecycle stuff, Christmas shoe boxes ready for dropping off this week and now a mens toiletry pile plus a box of unsorted randomness that mainly needs culling or rehoming - its driving me bats trying to sort through it all ...
