Has anyone signed up to HSBC and had the application go through online straight away? Their application system suggests some do as has two stages after the one I was kicked off the system.

I applied last year, it was referred and I gave up (they gave me the cashback due to a complaint :)). I applied today, it has again been referred . You can bet this will now involve having to go into branch, which is at least a two hour round trip.

It should be worth the effort with £200 for applying (ends today by midnght) but it really annoys me - they also ask the most intrusive questions of any application process.

    No issues applying anywhere else.

Reading over on the banking forum I think HSBC account is one of the more difficult ones to open pity as they have 6pc regular saver. With £1750 to pay in each month probably puts a lot of people of as they think it has to be salary. A lot of people seem to be turned down when they go in for their "interview" that is why I thought I would give this one a miss.

I loved halloween when the kids were little.

The first time we took the boys ToT it was a disaster. One lovely man opened the door and shouted at the boys 'F off you begging B' and then looked up and saw us at the end of the drive.

He was not happy when I challenged him, he threatened to call the police, so I offered to pay for the call. He slammed the door in my face. We went home as the boys were distressed. My friends' husband 'went around to have a word' as I was the calmest I went with him. This time he moved the curtains and went to shout at the expected children, stopping when he saw me and my companion, he answered the door and denied any wrong doing. Which was the worst thing he could do as he was not accusing us of lying. He was very clearly spoken to about how he should talk to children and ladies, and the consequences if he breached this in the future.

The next day, I was talking to the friend on my door step when he walked past, saw us and said he thought we were 'off the estate' justifying his behaviour again.... he was again clearly told that this was not acceptable.... totally bully

I am not sure no cold callers applies to Trick or Treaters  - it wouldn't round here as we have the sign on our door and are well stocked up ready for them to visit us tomorrow (major pumpkin carving all weekend!), and I have to say we will not be checking for the signs when we are out tomorrow - as I think most houses have the signs and most are expecting the ToTers to call in :A.

We put candles on the window cills, and have had bowls of toys/sweets near the doors for days.. but I do like the idea of a sign as it must be scary for elderly/single people.

    Tenth Anniversary
    edited 30 October 2016 at 10:50PM
10 of us are going out on tuesday to celebrate my and and my wifes 14 anniversary (although it's the 8th of nov), so a free meal all round. :D

Amazing how many friends you have when there's a free meal.

Still, free food, free wine, what couldn't be better. :D

Extra vouchers will be doggie bags for the babies. :)

Mrs Anon and I have both been referred, so hopefully we will get the accounts after their checks (also applied for M&S and BoS ... and T ).

You could have £1750 cumulative per month? It doesn't say anything about keeping it in the account ;). I now wait to find out the outcome = at least the application is in before the deadline, not my fault they want to play silly Bs (BoS approved straight away online ).

If anyone is wondering, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend this approach, I decided it may be best getting all the applications onto the credit reports at the same time, before they cross check, as it only shows as a search until open and then appears as an open account (if I understood correctly). If they were considering how many current accounts I had already, then none would be approved (I think I had about 15 at last count due to switching incentives, preferential interest etc :D ).

Now do I throw in an Am3x Gold application ...

Current account applications undergo soft searches only unless you have requested an overdraft facility, therefore it doesn't matter how many you have on file. I don't believe the number of current accounts open has any bearing on acceptance for another, unless, again there are overdraft limits available on those accounts and your credit to debt to income ratios are not good.

I currently have 22 current accounts on the go, only 1 has an O/D facility attached to it.

Most CRAs also now have live search data, unlike in the past (stoozing days) where you could apply for multiple credit cards all within the same day and avoid each company seeing each search.

It may have been a good idea for me to check over there before applying for me and Mrs Anon . Ah well, BoS and T accepted us both straight away, so not all was lost. We are already with FD and M&S, so it would be a shame not to get the full set :D.

    Thank you.

Ah well, plenty for them to see now then :D, No overdrafts to complicate it - I am a keeper (or would be, but am a serial accout switcher ;)). Also a one time stoozer too - but I gave up on stoozing when the places to store the money in tailed off. I did manage to get a lot of money into ING Dt fized accounts in 2007/8 just before the crash, that was my last foray :o) .
