  • Thank you for the box ideas everyone. Our local Homebase turned into Next a few years back and we rarely go to another one,

Lidl occasionally put boxes out so will keep an eye out in there, and we have a nearby Aldi that has just been extended. It is frustrating because I used to often see stacks of boxes, but our Tesco hasn't done that in yonks, hopefully have a trip down costco soon, or even Ikea, will move the boxes out of the dining room and check what is in them next week.

Just we have some bankers boxes that I won with a shredder and they look the perfect size but they are full of Christmas/birthday presents and bigger boxes justo would not fit there. Still amazed at the price of them though!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Good Afternoon all :) had an interesting experience in Tesco the other day. Nellie you missed out :p I was upstairs waiting my turn at the clothing counter and this chap was there and all of a sudden he whipped his grey tracksuit bottoms down saying I've got underpants on . I said feel free lol.

The young girl serving was agog but I took it all in my stride lol. He then showed his sky blue boxers and put on a pair of smart black trousers. Apparently he was late to a funeral and couldn't t find his trousers at home ( that old chestnut ;)) and he had to come and buy some trousers. He then dashed off He was quite fit too :D

It's a lot to get your head around.

I agree with long haul premium being the best use. Also, last minute reward flights within Europe can work out well. I got a last minute trip to Copenhagen for 9,000 Avios + £35, when the ££ fare was over £250 as it was so near to going.

Thanks, I think I will go for the avois and aim to get posh tickets to Bangkok. :D:D:D:D

If you are looking for your next card, don't forget cashback from TCB or Q as there is invariably something to be had.

Amex Preferred Gold is normally good for a welcome bonus (you can have as points or Amazon), there is a spend target. It is free for the first year, then CANCEL otherwise a £100+ fee. Buying Amex giftcards during their no postage/no fee Christmas promo proved a useful route if you were struggling to hit the spend target ;). I get one periodically and give Mrs Anon the supplementary card. If you are organised enough (and there is a significant OH to work with) you can then get them to sign up (in my case) Mrs Anon with a supplementary card for me which covers the next 12 months (I believe you could go back and get the welcome bonus again after 6 months).

If you are not paying a fee on an Amex, it is worth keeping them open just for the offers including Shopsmall which has run for the past few years (in early December if I recall?) - last year it was £10 spend, £5 account credit - an places like Onestop were included :D.

Thanks Anon, it is a minefield but could be very nice. I now have a book and am writing notes to keep myself on track. I now have a BAE and avois accounts. Just need my Diamond points transferring over. I have no idea how many I have I normally have £2,000 a month on this Amex and have had it for years... I am hoping I am pleased when I finally figure that one out!

Has anyone got any suggestions ideas on where to transfer existing cash ISA (instant access) to? Just shopping around at the moment following Santan rates plummeting and seeing if there are any that I have missed before applying.

    Many thanks

I paid some of my mortgage off with the money I had in the account.

Pop into the store, and ask them to keep you some. I am sure that they will be happy to help x

On a positive note, I could not get the 02 rewards sorted as when I had obtained a sim, it just would not allow the code without putting credit on it which I did not want to do! 02 have just sent me an e-mail, if I send a text (which I am hoping I can do).. they will put the first £10 credit on....

I am sure I will get this wrong as anything slightly technical has gone wrong recently! But the phone with the 02 sim is on charge... fingers crossed.
