+£2.29 cheaper
The Celebrations tub is not really a price for us but is good on this comp.! Regarding sweets, has anyone noticed the 500g bags of Liquorice Allsorts at £1 in Poundland? I found that after looking at Bassett's cartons in M that worked better price than the one of the small bags I had on my list, then I discovered Sains. own label for the same weight is 50p cheaper, at £1.50, but then found Poundland cheaper still and significantly more weight. In fact Poundland has a lot of sweets bags that seem to be significantly more product than what you usually get elsewhere - I'll have to look into those - although I am sure that some of them are set to go to a quarter of their price after Hallowe'en.
Vs T
1x Dolmio Bolognese Pasta Sauce Original (750G) £2.48 £1.00
However, the shop was better overall against M so, in effect, they put it against M (full price vs M now at full price:() and obtained it for nearly £2.29 instead of 90p:wall:.
They bought some A mbuys but mostly non-comparable so those have not affected the comp. The other womble I've got will I expect be hopeless as they are buying into all the A mbuys:wall: and probably making A cheaper or cutting down the APG as based on the same price per item - would be much better comparing one at full price against a competitor at £1.50 than buying 2 for £3.0 -

It's those Carrots! They don't compare and, if they did, with M at 44p, it would not be 1p!:):(:undecided.
I saw 1Kg Carrots at Aldi at 43p and therefore expected Lidl to be the same. However, yesterday, I noticed Lidl still had them at 29p as they are on their offers, together with the Parsnips. As they are 'underpriced', and that's purely to get people to shop at Lidl and buy far more, cynical as I am, they will not be that price for long - I expect them to be exact 43p soon if they are not already.
[...]
Surprise surprise, I notice the 1Kg Carrots are now 43p in Lidl:(.
I think that's because it's the maximum price they can get to make themselves as much money as possible (which, being a commercial business, is their job) - they can't be a penny more because people could then get the carrots cheaper at Aldi and there's no point being cheaper as they then don't get as much money as they can. However, people generally don't quite shop around like that and don't pay as much attention to the prices of competitors as the stores themselves do. So it doesn't quite work this way - shops can still have items that more expensive - in some cases that are much more expensive - than competitors although not too much more expensive as people will then start looking around and finding them cheaper elsewhere, although carrots are one of the few items, there are only about five items, on which people generally remember the prices. Otherwise people generally know almost absolutely nothing about nearly everything:rotfl:.
Mr A is the same - I noticed they were a penny cheaper than M on unleaded fuel two days ago but that could not last long - they've now gone up to the same price as M:mad:. The presence of an A fuel station certainly helps though - the prices at both M and T out in another town, that doesn't have an A fuel station, are I notice three pence per litre more expensive. Such a situation like this was found to be against the public interest by the competition authorities in 2000 but they didn't recommend any action because any action that could be taken could be counteracted by the stores behaving differently - so we are stuck with this thing which has been found to be against the public interest but exists and nothing will change on it. There's nothing that any consumers can do as we are not in a position to set prices of fuel - we take whatever price they set and don't try to haggle over it in advance because - well, not only would it be extremely odd (and potentially disruptive) to do so but they would, I suspect, just say no and then we'd be left with no alternative as all the competitors are charging either the same price or more.0 -
63p APG, so not all lost, but the A mbuys have not helped at all:(.

2x Whiskas Poultry Selection in Jelly Cat Tins (6X390G) £6.00 £6.00

2x ASDA Grower's Selection Apple Slices (80G) £0.60 £0.91
2x ASDA Grower's Selection Apple Slices & Grapes (80G) £0.60 £0.83
Comparison total (compared products only) £16.15 £17.25
Basically I don't even get the Mini Cheddars difference!
It's these blighters that were threatening to be more expensive elsewhere but fortunately this set of five is useless fillers (all N/A against everywhere):
1x ASDA Chosen By You Ice Cream Sundaes (50G) £0.20 N/A
2x ASDA Chosen By You Cherry Jellies (50G) £0.40 N/A
1x ASDA Chosen By You Mini Marti Mushrooms (50G) £0.20 N/A
1x ASDA Chosen By You Dolly Mix Bag (50G) £0.20 N/A
No real point in buying 5 for £1 - individual price on some others, or else mbuy price requiring fewer than five to be bought - is 20p elsewhere. Or else some items go up from that price to more expensive individual and mbuy of 20p each.
Fwiw, vs M
1x ASDA Grower's Selection Grapes (80G) £0.30 £0.30
2x ASDA Grower's Selection Apple Slices (80G) £0.60 £0.60
2x ASDA Grower's Selection Apple Slices & Grapes (80G) £0.60 £0.60
Vs T and M but this has had a downsize?
1x Galaxy Minstrels Chocolate Bag (232G) £1.50 £1.50
I think there were some 295g bags before, so that is quite a drop.
Galaxy Revels Large Pouch 192g (192G)
Large pouch?!?:huh: Seems quite small to me! In my view, "large" would be 300g or more. (But, really, 300g is medium sized and it's tubs at 500g plus that are "large":rotfl:.) 192g is, I think, standard small bag which, if that's at £1.50, is at a quite expensive unit price:rotfl:. There's nothing like having people buy little sachets or small bags of things that work out much more expensive price - those 5 for £1 sweets are probably an example.
Soon the "large" pouch will be downsized and much smaller and then the "small" pouch even smaller.0 -
I have been rather impulsive today. Have been after a new spring/autumn jacked for literally years and finally found one in M&S. Normal price £45, take off the Sparks 20%, take off the £25 for returning the vests, new coat for £11
I know I was going to keep that £25 for Christmas, but I actually liked this coat which makes a change, so I just thought what the hey. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Right, I have a problem, DD gave us their leftover food when they moved, and I have got out of the freezer what looks like 4 chicken thighs with various veg. Would love to know what it is supposed to be but can't find it online, iT is in a foil dish with a red and yellow mix and match 2 for £7 on stickered meat, fish and poultry packs on it and it has a blue new sticker on it. Any ideas where I might find it listed please?
Think I have found similar, looks like it is supposed to be some sort of casserole. Will have to use guesswork, defrost and cook for 40 minutes or so should do it.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
