We always do :j We booked very last minute so it was not very MSE - totally the opposite - but sometimes you have to step outside of yourself and outside of your normal routine
I booked on the Tuesday and we went on Wednesday, decided to go for a city centre hotel and go up on the train, we have train passes- rather than driving up (thus saving a tank full of petrol and also Ikea lunch, the meatballs are irrestible)
Wednesday was very hot, lunch in Yates, free drinks in Piture and Piano and we then walked the walls, something we had not done for years so we forgot it does not totally circle the city. There is a section which has no railings and my nerves got rattled so we came off and then walked back - nearly 20k steps that day.
Bella Italia dinner using my gift vouchers - very bad service so I've got a complaint letter to write.
Thursday started off very foggy but despite this we had a day trip up to Scarborough where fog was rolling down the streetWe didn't stay long but did have our free hot chocolates in Marks and at least the fog had lifted on the way back.
Back in April I won a lovely afternoon tea at a little coffee shop and finally we got to take it on Wednesday afternoon. Then we had a nice walk back through museum gardens where there was a chap doing a display with various owls and raptors and hawks etc. Dinner was at Pizza Express next to Lendal bridge that night and we used the nectar vouchers.
Thursday night our gorgeous eldest child and her BF drove up to York as he had a big dental appointment on Friday morning - they always stay with the in laws. She came to our hotel on Friday morning and she had breakfast with us. We had horrendous rain but eventually we made it across to the rail museum - OHs favourite. They have an exhibition about ambulance train which does not sound very exciting but actually it was very informative. We went last year to Dunham Massey to see the army hospital exhibition and this answered a lot of our queries so the 2 things joined up nicely
The eldest child went off to the hairdressers for the afternoon - much cheaper than going to her hairdressers down south. We were in a different hotel on Friday night so we moved house, had a walk along the river, did a few jobs in town and had lunch in yates again
She then joined us later and we then walked across town and met BF, had drinks in a nice pub to celebrate BF getting his new job and then walked across and had an Indian before walking back to the hotel along the river again, back to our hotel and BF and eldest went for a quick drink before their lift came to collect them.
So a very nice relaxed, none complicated few daysSarahdol75 wrote: »Good afternoon from a lovely and sunny wales.

That reminds me, Mrs Anon had an email from C00p bank inviting her back with the switching offer (she had a switching bonus the last time and their offer terms suggested she would not qualify so hadn't bothered - "she" will now). £150 switching plus TCB
.
Of course my plans for switching have been scuppered while my credit files are repaired/update due to the mobile company messing up . I filed a complaint - one week on and no response yet.

talking of bank account switching I started to switch my old dormant Natiowide one to HSBC encouraged by the MSE article. I completed the form which did not ask for anything about the account I was switching. It then said I would get a phone call within 3 days.
No phone call and instead I've got a general letter from HSBC - I don't know now if I've been rejected or not or if I have to start again“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

love the colour and the price is fabulous - I am near one on Wednesday so I am going to feel the quality of the material - I think it would show my lumps and bumps too much
This classic design you will be able to wear for all sorts of formal occasions for years to come :j“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. They are another shower - I tried switching to them last year and heard nothing. Eventually chased them up and they said I needed to take proof of income into branch. I did to find my application had then fallen off the system.
As the offer period had ended, they gave me the switching bonus direct (complaints team) and said I could go back to branch to start opening the account again. I received the £100 and "forgot"
to open it ...
I have remembered now ... prompted by their new switching offer, which is what led to me noticing my credit score had been trashed.
