Thank you everyone for my birthday wishes. I've had a lovely day so far. Three lots of visitors, lots of texts, calls, cards, flowers and some presents. DS1 and DIL visiting after work, and then with them, and DH and DS2 to the local pub for steak night.

I had a sight test this morning with a new optician (I have fallen out Big Time with Boots !).. They couldn't quite make out why my distance vision had improved so dramatically - until I told them I had cataracts removed 2/3 years ago and the surgeon made me long sighted when previously I was short sighted ! They were still confused as to why my current reading glasses were completely different - until I remembered that I am still happily using specs that I've had since well before my ops. Well, they worked fine .
