This is now back at £1.50 in M (as is the Summer Fruits version) but no use, and it did go down to £1 in Iceland at one recent point.
Jucee Orange Squash with No Added Sugar (3L)
£2.74 9.1p / 100ml
[Strike]£2.25[/Strike]
£1.50
£1.50
Actually thinking about this now and how I was in Aldi and Lidl last week and thought about how both of them were just so expensive! 1L squash in Aldi at 79p:eek::eek: (which I later saw someone actually buying:eek::rotfl:). Which I thought was just so dear after 2L branded Kia Ora in M at final RTC of 50p recently.
They have now put the Essentials Apples packs back down to 75p (they were 63p earlier in the year and then slowly crept up and up... incremental:(, no doubt designed to make people not notice as much or not feel that there had been a big increase when in fact the end result was the very same, and, in supermarkets, feelings matter) - but not seem very mean indeed to me as just 5 apples:( in the packs I saw yesterday. Certainly nowhere near as good as 14 for £1 in Farmfoods.
I thought Aldi are really dear - and people think they are discounters (undoubtedly because that's what the media, in 'drip-drip' fashion, tells them. It's interesting as people do seem to get beliefs from the media, but then you could argue that that was reflecting people's beliefs - and people sometimes act in organised campaigns organised by the media or sales go up depending on advertising and things being in the 'public eye' but, when they are not, people don't buy them as much and campaign letters decrease and then cease once there is no longer a campaign on - so, encouraged by and influenced by the time that the media decides to publicise the issue - and, ask them about favourite songs as well (another bugbear:rotfl:), and it will be skewed towards current releases that are getting a lot of media exposure or older songs that still get quite a lot of airtime. I think we are all influenced as we tend not to remember about things that we are not seeing or hearing regularly and not being told about, or reminded about, at recent points).
Back to Aldi being dear... that said, there are some pizza subs at 69p and they also have the Minions lollies at 79p (better than M's old 2 for £2:( which went to current RTC £1.52:eek::(:(). So, there are some items that are cheaper than elsewhere in Aldi (and same is true of other items in every other place) but the majority I feel are very dear. Ocean Rise Pink Salmon I think it was at price cut 75p. Nowhere near a patch on Princes same weight in M at 25p earlier. Aldi is just so so dear!! I feel the same about the majority of every supermarket's range.
Same at Lidl. Still not playing ball as of earlier this week with the Pears Punnets not being 59p. Almost everything there just seems so dear at the moment. I think just the individual Kiwis which were on offer but even that I didn't bother with. Other than that, it's either same price or the other items there can either be got cheaper in equivalents elsewhere (I think potatoes are currently much dearer than the cheapest available option at a competitor) or there have been much cheaper RTCs (admittedly) at an earlier time that have now just made everything else seem really dear.
It was the same when I went to Sains. last week, although I expect that of there. I managed to spend another exact £2.50 and included one the Jacob's Clubs at 70p in it, overpaying by 7p within my points spend compared to buying in A potentially and comparing. However, I didn't need as many as 8 items and thus have saved by not buying them and wasn't going to be doing an Avs S shop within the time before Sains offer was undoubtedly due to end. So I am glad I bought them. They are now £1.40:eek: - just so expensive! I feel like offering to sell mine at £1.40 back to Mr S as obviously they have now doubled in value:rotfl:.
I noticed this as I was trying to find the 37p Chicken Slices but, as usual, not even sold by my A. I bet it's restricted to some places in the country. With 37p being an odd number though, to include, even if I could find multiple stock, within £2.50, that then left an odd number to reach exact £2.50 and avoid paying them a single penny ever. However the beggars seem like thwarting me again, as they have nothing that can just be straight worked out to the right amount - without weighing and reweighing loose fruit or veg. and spending ages trying to get it exact. I've noticed that the Sains Basics products run in 5p prices. They are all at an exact 5p divisible price. So, they have a tactic there of putting them into a 5p band - and usually rounding up to the next 5p above that which other places are charging for their equivalent range that Sains doubtless would not accept was equivalent, because they are using the "quality" strategy in order to try to convince people to pay more for stuff that's probably just as good elsewhere at cheaper prices. And sometimes S are twice as expensive on their Basics range.
I expect Sains to be expensive. Aldi and Lidl are just so expensive on most things though! Even though I am actually buying most from Aldi at the moment (and doing so very selectively!:D:money:).0 -

Happy Birthday to PK and Naebirrac
Hope you both had a fabulous day💖The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -
I had a sight test this morning with a new optician (I have fallen out Big Time with Boots !).. They couldn't quite make out why my distance vision had improved so dramatically - until I told them I had cataracts removed 2/3 years ago and the surgeon made me long sighted when previously I was short sighted ! They were still confused as to why my current reading glasses were completely different - until I remembered that I am still happily using specs that I've had since well before my ops. Well, they worked fine .
Hubby fell out with boots about 15-18 years ago, terrible service when he was paying £300 + for glasses

I think I've fallen out with every place I buy from:rotfl:. It's like trying to pull teeth from them all! As well as Sains thwarting exact £2.50s, I got caught by T recently:o:o. I had some CC vouchers, which I waited years on, waiting for another 'increase by 5 times' to come back which never did. They were due to expire. I had one for £2 and another for £5. They wouldn't let me use the £2 one to go towards redeeming £2.50 (quadruple:( up) - every time I tried, it took it all to the £5 voucher. With the other voucher amounts, there was just no way the £2 was ever going to be able to be put with another one to use £2.50, £5 or any other amount. So, so as not to lose the £2 altogether, I just had to print it off and spend it instore:( (the worst possible option). So, it wasn't quadrupled at all - it merely gave back what had been paid for it. However, I'd recently been on EDF and got points just as being there that I wouldn't have otherwise had, so it was alright anyway.
I don't think it saves money - it just gets us going to places we wouldn't have been before and spending petrol money travelling there that we would not have spent as we'd otherwise have stayed at home:rotfl:. However, it's good to get out. It only saves any money or even amounts to quadrupling if you would otherwise have been to a place and paid in cash the full admission price. Which, to be fair, is not the case as the days out vouchers are the only reason we go there.
Well, I've spent £2.50 from the £5 and the £2.50 back had better be converted to a £2.50 voucher next time. (I probably should have spent £5, but didn't want to be pushed into having to go in the next six months over the winter. I've probably done the wrong thing as, instead of extending the life of the remaining £2.50, I bet the CC scheme wouldn't work like this.) I suspect they'll give me £2 CC voucher next time:(:(:p and leave the 50p points there for eternity as not at some qualifying amount and I stand no hope ever at any time of then ever getting the 50p to £1.50 (the minimum required) without collecting points by spending hundreds of pounds in their stores, which I am not going to do. I am not spending a single penny to get the money back - as otherwise it's not getting the money back at all but paying out more and is designed entirely to get people to spend money. Well, I'm not doing it!:p Just not my way!:rotfl::rotfl: So, instead of spending hundreds of pounds, I will probably end up with £2 of the £5 (all of which ought to have been quadrupled - in fact ought to have been 5 times but they denied it) simply being £2 again - although, if that happens, at least I have learnt not to do this again and the other £5 vouchers aren't due to expire for some time yet, so I can use those in the best way when I have to. I would rather £2 though than making £2 to £2.50 - and therefore £10 days out as it would then be £10 minus hundreds of pounds to get the vouchers of the £2.50 value, so a net loss of £90 or more as opposed to "losing" just £8. Yes, whenever I go to the supermarket, I expect to make a profit.
You never get it back in cash. It's always yet more points, or vouchers (as in the case of the APG), in order to try to get you to spend!0 -
