Jeez, now I am really walking in treacle ! That article is very interesting and, as you say, on the face of it looks like great news. I've read it twice and it seems to indicate that I won't have to pay tax at all on my shares (they produce up to around £1500 per year so less than the £5000 ceiling mentioned ). But the article only talks about dividends not interest - are they really generous enough to give us separate tax free allowances for dividends and interest ? That seems unlikely but would certainly be excellent news.

I can't even keep on top of my bank statements and even though I log all transactions my bank always recon my balance is a bit higher than my records show. And for years, when I was running the office petty cash account, I had enough extra money left over to fund cream cakes for 6 staff every perishing week ! My brain does not cope well with cash business.
The dividend allowance is a separate allowance, so your annual divis of £1500 is well covered, so you have nothing to worry about there!
    This is my understanding.
Have you got your bank accounts on a spreadsheet? I find this easiest, as I dont have to add up all the different columns as I put in the formula and it does all the hard work for me.
Although I knew how to enter on spreadsheets, I did not know how to create the formula, as I did not use these in work.....a quick google, and various you tube videos showed me exactly how to do it...my balances are now the same as the bank :D

Ok - after my really irritating day my brain went to bed before I did. I meant dividend - which the seems to be being treated like interest and being paid before tax deductions.
I genuinely didn't know that, so an 11% increase in dividend income, lovely jubbly.

  • Morning All - hopes it stays sunny as out for lunch later.

Altojack have sent some healing vibes hopefully you will be feeling a lot better very soon.

Popped into Morrisons to pick up a few bits and my Birthday voucher for flowers and guess what - zilch, nowt  Asked SA if they had been stopped and she said No, told me to check with CS - didn't bother - anyway the flowers looked manky :rotfl:

Had another issue with Morrisons earlier in the week apparently the offers on their website are not reflected in store. Wanted 6 of their fresh cream sponges on offer for £1 but priced up @£1.55 in store so out of curiosity rang CS - helpful guy rang me back 3 times as he needed to liaise with his Manager and the online team :o Outcome was the website is for online shopping only, so I pointed out how do Morrisons expect their customers to find out about current offers plus the website was up and running long before their online shopping was live. He agreed with me and said he felt he was been fobbed off so he was going back and argue these points.

He rang me again and told me the story had changed and he had now been told to tell me that my comments had been fed back plus the reason that these cakes were on offer online only was that there was a stockpile of them in the warehouse - told him that the response might have held up but the product only has a 2 day shelf life :D

Poor guy final response was I have definitely been fobbed off :rotfl:

Right off to enjoy the rest of my Birthday have a good day everyone xx

I'm sure I've read that if you are ever held in solitary confinement that it is those those poems and hymns that you learnt as a child that keep you sane., or in some cases drive you insane as you can;t remember the binking words.

I would probably drive my jailers insane as I recount my story of Olaf the Viking! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Most embarrassing Christmas dinner table, 2 x 80+ year old grannies etc... young nephew, aged 9 asks, what does masturbate mean dad? Dear brother quickly puts a roast potato in his mouth so he can't answer, we are all humming and coughing, other nephew, aged 11 replies, Oh Pete, it's just a posh word for w@nk!!

    That is fabulous :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Good morning all, lovely sunny day here.

I am sure I have one of those in the spare room

AJ, hope you are feeling better soon xx

As for memorable poems, the only one I can remember is the Quality of Mercy Speech from The Merchant of Venice, I thought it might be handy one day - not so far though lol

I had to go and read this... god knows how you learnt it, I struggled to pronounce some of the words! x

AJ hope you feeling better soon x

    Weekend off... what to do.

Well last night I typed some work up... finished at 12.30. This morning had a lay in, walked dog, picked brambles and made a cooked breakfast. OH suggested we take his mum out... nope... I suggested going to a local music festival...:T:T:T:T

:o:o Yes - we moved here when I was 11 - the 30 sign is on my old stable where Teddy the pony lived, by the silver birch (which was a 25th Wedding Anniversary gift)

It's strange as today we are finding enough seating for 100 guests, as they are a similar age to Parents.
When we held the 25th Anniversary - the same people camped on the garden & danced the night away :rotfl:
