So do we have any tiny eliters who are starting school for the first time next week....

I know I read that AAU's DD started for the first time when the over the borders went back a few weeks ago....(hope it's all going well and she's made some friends and she's almost a pro at this school lark now)

This is the first year in many that I haven't had to deal with the back to school....but it is 18 days and counting to uni lift off!

We were a little worried about her because a couple of times when we asked who she was sitting next to at lunch she said "nobody sits next to me" :(

Then one day she said something like "Ella had a green and red twisty sweety thing in her lunch box that looked good. Could I get something like that for a treat please?"

We asked if Ella was sitting at another table and were told: "No, she sits on the other side of my table and faces me. Ella is my friend"

Turns out she had been taking "next to" quite literally :kisses3:

We now know that we have to ask "who was sitting at the same table as you?" :rotfl:

    Good afternoon:D

I think you get get a citizen card for a 16 year old. We recommend them at my work for proof of age as an official ID card without the worry for an "official" document such as driving license and passport. I work in a bookies and they are strict on proof of age:eek:
    Hth x
I've heard of the citizen card too nearlysorted....but I think the problem is more that there is no universal card that is accepted as proof of age....they all seem to have certain certain sponsors or institutions that accept them but there isn't one accepted by all...

I can't remember but I have a feeling that even a student card can be obtained before the official age....I think my bug bear was always the cost involved in providing the "right" or" acceptable" piece of ID to the place requiring it.

Quite often somewhere would say "we accept x or y as ID"...only to find that what was acceptable to one place wouldn't be right for the next because they accepted z !!1

I know but I will miss it. One year off is one too many. :o Although we did think it might clash with DD2's graduation dates next year if she does that is. So at least we won't have to make any decision based around that. ;)

Also looks like they are going back to a 3 day festival, think it had just expanded to 4 when we started going although we only did the 3 days taking the girls after school on the Friday. Then it expanded to 5 days of music and fun, and then a whole holiday week you could settle yourself in for a couple of days before the festival started.

Can't believe Mr TS said well we are getting a bit old for it.

As parents we always think the worse...I think we went through 2 years of feeling like that only to discover at a parents evening that DS's best friend was a girl who quite literally went everywhere with him....but because we had been asking about boys we knew in the class we were getting negative replies about them.
Sometimes I would have loved a class cam to see how everyone interacted....
do you have parent help days?...they are always wonderful to see how everyone gets on because you can observe without it being too obvious...
Although you'll really find out who the friends are when birthday parties come along and suddenly she'll want to invite the whole class and others too!

The citizen card is hologrammed as official Id which is accepted by police and other official organisations. In my place the only Id we'd take is the citizen card, passport, and driving licence, be it provisional or full, but not foreign:eek:
