    Xmas Saver!
Not that I would do it every week...but at Xmas / Bday I pop a lucky dip into a couple of friends cards - I then do the same numbers myself....

    xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • I cant see any problem with this as long as you are happy to tell the rest of the syndicate what you are doing!!!!! Hmmm something tells me you wouldnt want to do this as i reckon they would not be happy and not trust you and would then get someone else to put the lottery on. I think its sneaky and underhand. Also how would they know which ticket is theirs and which is yours if the colours came up for the 1 million or £20k ? If one of the others was in charge of putting the money on and holding the ticket then i would say that may be ok but again, as long as you tell everyone.:D

In the off chance one of the tickets came in for the top prize, you are then reducing their pot due to the split of winnings as already pointed out.

No you shouldn't. I'm not sure why you would do this. If your numbers come up your friends will be guaranteed to win half the amount of the jackpot they could expect. Imagine their dismay to then discover you've won the other half all to yourself. There are plenty of numbers to choose from. You're already promised a share of any syndicate win so why not choose a different set of numbers for yourself. That way you increase your odds of winning without taking anything from your friends. A genuine win-win situation
  • Not sure where your brains to... If you buy a second set of tickets you and your group will share the same prize money so it makes sense to buy different ticket numbers to increase your odds of winning. With all lottery prizes, a lot of praying should be considered as the likelihood of winning is very remote.

    Someone actually did something similar.

They considered one of the syndicate members to be very lucky, so they put their lines on as a private punt.

The line came up they ended up two wins.

I don't see it as a problem. However - why would you buy tickets with the same numbers on as the syndicate ones - get tickets with different numbers, thus doubling YOUR chances of winning!

This moral dilemma is remakably similar to my community quandary

The only difference being mine was a scratchcard :rotfl:
