A stunning insight into the mind of a seasoned lottery "player".
Talk about "a tax on the stupid".
Why not buy a THIRD set, but play different numbers? Think of how much your odds of winning will increase!
  • Can't see the point in doing this, but if the numbers came up you would be the winner of your individual ticket plus a share in the syndicate ticket. Why not do different numbers, make sure not to do the same numbers everyweek.

Cripes, what a silly query. Goodness knows why anyone plays the lottery. You are going to lose more often than you win and £2/week is £104/year that you could save. You only hear of the 'winners', not everyone who loses £2+ week which is the 99%.

Grow up, get out of the syndicate and save for yourself.

Don't expect to be able to keep it secret if you win a substantial amount. And don't expect your work colleagues to remain friends.

  • Dream on! but why choose the same numbers and reduce your chance of winning anything? You'd get one-fifth if the group wins but the whole lot if your number wins. Or you'd have a reduced chance of winning half as much plus one-tenth. Better to spread your chances I would think. Or better still to not waste your money in the first place.

My thoughts on this is yes he should pay the syndicate out from both lots, the reason I say this is that he has used "Their" numbers again to make more money for himself, I wonder how this would stand up in court???

after going to court the lawyers would have 'won' the bulk of the money!!! :rotfl:
Best headline ever on local paper??
"Weight loss group doubles in size"
  • Of course it's ok to keep it - anyone else might choose the same numbers too and reduce the group share. As a number of people have said though it's a very odd thing to do - why not just pick a different set of numbers to double your already infinitesimally small chances of a big win.

No need to share if they are your tickets but pretty pointless getting tickets with the same numbers.

Why would you buy the same ticket twice? I think you should buy the same ticket 9 times to make sure you get 90% (plus your syndicate %) of the jackpot on the off chance that those specific numbers come up. </sarcasm> :wall:
