Confused over billing period.
Options
My mobile bill came out today yet a week ago I negotiated a better deal but the money came out at the higher rate
I couldn't get a clear answer from the customer service on if bills were paid in arrears or advance as they said bills were charged in advance but then said the payment covered May-June which makes no sense.
Either way I have been overcharged by them as they changed me from the one plan without notifying me last month (they claim they did) doubling my contact cost but I am on benefits so can't afford this payment.
What made me more confused was they said the bills covered to the 20th of each month (or 26th can't remember)
So what to do now?

Depending on which network, but usually a new plan price doesn't start until your next billing day.
So if you agreed a new plan on the 10th, but you bill on the 26th you'll be billed on the old plan on the 26th, but from then you'll be on the new plan price.0 -
I too moved from Three's One Plan recently... From the letter you have to move swiftly otherwise they dump an expensive "upgrade" on you (as you appear to have received). Negotiating another deal could mean an up front payment as the contracts with Three are charged in advance.
However, Three are keen to please, even if their overseas call centre staff are mostly adhering to a computer screen's script. So call them and explain that you are confused and unhappy and see what they offer.
When I opted for a new 12 month SIM only contract, it quickly became apparent that my OH was using more data than we expected and Three were quite happy to upgrade the contract to include more data (at £3 extra per month) without extending the 12 month minimum contract period.0 -
Its Three but from what they told me on the "upgrade/cancellation" call was that my new allowance starts on the 26th I think (or the 20th)
I tried asking the woman on the phone that was the £30 just because they were unable to change the bill so would have a credit on my next account and wasn't given a clear answer nor if the payment was in advance.
It was due out today so I was expecting it and wasn't sure what amount but not the full ex amount.
The funny thing about the upgrade was they were telling me I didn't need a large calls/data allowance as I only went above 2 gig once and under 300 minutes of calls most months so offering me a plan with a small 1/2 gig cap and about 500 minutes for same as the One Plan was a good deal.0
