And happy birthday to EvieBulletproof0 -
Good morning all, bright and dry at the moment looks like it may stay that way as the clouds are pretty high and there are patches of blue:) Plus my joints are all working without squeaking which is usually as good a weather forecast as anything
:):)
Today I shall be watching tv this morning (Versailles) and ironing DGS duvet covers etc that I washed and got dried for him. They will all go on the top shelf of the airing cupboard until September rather than stuck in a bag in the conservatory.
Almost another week gone and we are halfway through the month, the time seems to be going so quickly and its only 8 weeks until our holidays:):) can't wait to be back on the beautiful IoW again. Its so relaxing and a great recharge of the batteries.
No food shopping to buy at all this week as I am still munching my way through the stocks indoors.I love the warmer weather as I am very keen on all sorts of salads and would live on them if I could all year round, just seems a bit odd in November:):)
Right time to get the kettle on before my morning mile for my training then home for breakfast and the iron awaits me
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a dry day but a bit dull this morning. Hubby has gone off to work very nervous as he has an interview this morning to become a tester/inspector in electronics. I have everything crossed for him as he really wants the job. The girls are getting ready for school and I am fighting to stay awake.
My meeting at the diabetic clinic did not go very well as the computers were down so the nurse couldn't give me any test results. She was also very negative about going low carb and told me there is no way my diabetes can be reversed. I left feeling really depressed about my situation but after talking it through with my hubby and taking advice from a diabetic forum I use I have decided to continue with the low carb diet and see what happens. She wants me to go back in a month but I don't really want to.
I have my CMHT lady's boss coming to see me this morning. I have only met her once before when she came to introduce herself but she seemed nice so I am hopeful it will go ok. My friend was due to come over today as well but I have cancelled that as I am not feeling up to it. I think I will be sleeping quite a bit today as I just feel so flat.
I have an asda delivery coming this evening for a change so I'm not sure what we will be having for dinner until the food arrives.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) if you need one.
Arrgghhhhh more rain forecast for today, the garden is still flooded, although the water has drained away from the back of the house, but if it rains heavily again it will be back. Its very dark and overcast.
Its U3A this morning, everything is ready to go in the car for the table display. A couple of the ladies will be there to give me a hand to set everything up.
I have put £10 aside to get 5 bags of compost from Morrison, might not be today, possibly the next time we have to go into Melton. Apart from the odd plant that really takes my fancy that will be it.
No idea what to cook for tonights supper, might do mince and dough balls, once the meat is browned and I have put the stock in it, it can stay on the stove cooking gently.
We have had to throw a couple of pints of milk out. Because we had cold drinks for lunch several times in the hot weather, the milk has gone off. OH usually drinks milk at lunchtime. Really made me cross, I hate throwing stuff away. I should have though and used it to make a dessert or sauce.0 -
DUMPLING, lovely lady please don't become despondent because of what the nurse said.
When I started the BSD I didn't think for one minute I could reverse the diabetes, all I wanted to do was to feel better because it was controlled and if possible cut down on my medication.
Well I do feel much better and I only take one tablet a day now, whereas I used to take 4 (metformin)
You know yourself whether you feel better and yes I think eventually you can have potatoes or bread occasionally, but to start with it is good to keep to a regime. I also think to myself if I am not eating bread, then I am not having butter, and believe me I love butter.
Dumpling, pull those big girls kn*ckers up and show that nurse you can do it. You have done so well in the last couple of months, going out, meeting people, you can do this.
We are all so proud of what you have achieved recently, and we are all here to encourage and cheer you on.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!
Hugs and much love

Morning everyone,
Dull and overcast here but no rain at the moment, it absolutely poured yesterday and the roads flooded quickly.
Enjoyed looking round the bath's immensely, it's changed a fair bit since I last visited nearly 20 years ago and much more to see. The interactive side of things are done very well and really give you an insight into life back then. They have an option in the headsets to listen to Bill Bryson doing commentary which I particularly enjoyed as love his writing and the same kind of humour come through. It took a good couple of hours to go round and even though we used the lifts etc Mum was really quite tired when we came out so drove out the city to find a late lunch. OH and I agreed that we will go back for a long weekend to see more.
Not sure what we will do this morning, there is a certain football match this afternoon and I would feel churlish to make DOH miss it
Dumpling sorry to hear your trip to the DC wasn't that great, would suggest the BSD forums for some views on going low-carb to manage diabetes. Some real life experiences that are worth reading?
Tru Congratulations :j
Hmm, Lainey has handheld Hoover envy now :rotfl:
Take care folks x0 -
SPEKY I am so sorry your GF has had such news. As everyone has said, thank goodness she went for the test anyway, and everyone seems to be on the ball.
My DD was 24 (I think) when she had exactly the same, she is now coming up 44 next month. She had a minor op in day surgery at our local hospital with regular check ups afterwards.
It has been caught at the very earliest stage and she will be well looked after.
If at all possible, go with her to the appointments, it does help.
When I had breast cancer my DH came with me to every appointment which was very brave of him because he hates hospitalsbut it did help me.
Hugs to you both

Good morning everyone.
Thank you all again for such lovely messages of support. Collectively you’ve all been such a great help, honestly.
We’ve accepted that right now, it’s just a waiting game to hear on results. So there’s no point in us worrying about what they may or may not say. Her house is now filled with flowers from the close friends and family she has told and those little messages of support have picked her up. So we’re pushing it one side for the moment and getting on with our lives and refuse to let it become a dark cloud.
Both of us back to work today and then I’ll see some of the guys tonight while my GF is working late.
Coxy - I take my hat off to you. Up at 4am and still manage to go to the gym in the morning!
Tru - Huge congrats!
Lainey - Glad you enjoyed your visit yesterday.0 -
Dumpling, I agree, don't take what the nurse said to heart, there is some real proof that these diets work for a number of diabetics. Although I'm not diabetic I know I was at real risk (family history and apple shaped with all my weight on my tummy).
I'm jealous of all those with a Gtech, we bought a lightweight Vax for the house in Yorkshire because I thought a Dyson would be too heavy to carry up and down three flights of stairs. I've rarely regretted a decision more, it might be ok to carry but it's hopeless to manoeuvre round a carpet.
I can't remember who was asking about a steamer but I have a Steam and Vac which means I don't have to vaccuum before steaming, it's good but pricey, although Tesco Direct have had it at half price occasionally.
My news is that I have now lost 20lbs and am under 13st for the first time for at least 10 years. It's all down to the BSD which I started at the beginning of April and while I've not followed it religiously (taking breaks when we've had visitors or been away) I've found it fairly easy to start up again which is not usually the case when I backslide.
I made a pair of trousers yesterday which I'm pleased with but I need to go at least a size smaller on my waist (yaay) and at least 2 sizes for my disproportionately small bottom and hips. I know people would think it not a problem but I'd rather be in proportion - I can't show off my size 12 bottom because my tummy is so big, that's why I'm starting to make my own clothes, so hopefully they will fit better than off the peg.0 -
Good Morning everyone, very close and sticky here today and we're forecast all sorts of nastiness involving water from the sky and storms, such fun the British weather!!!
Whenever I read this little thread I'm struck by how supportive and kind everyone is to others in adverse times. There is instant gathering of spirit and condolence, love and advice and positivity. You really are all very GOOD people and I wish very much that I knew each of you in real life. Just wanted to say thank you for being there, thank you for supporting each other and showing the world that it's NOT such a dark and horrible place because you each bring a light to it!!!
